Thought I would join you if I may!

I have been on this board since Christmas night, two days after being told by an ultrasound tech and the radiologist who read it, that it was probably breast cancer.  Not a club I want to join, but I am thrilled that it's here for those of us who need it!  I have received tremendous support and empathy here.

I am 52, pre-menopausal (at least until I start chemo and/or tamoxifen - haven't seen medical oncologist yet), married, mom to a 23 y/o son, a 20 y/o son and an 11 y/o daughter.  I teach Kindergarten and am returning to work tomorrow after having a lumpectomy and SND last Wednesday.

I am bummed as I just found out today that I have to have more surgery a week from Friday.  My margins weren't clear Cry.

So sorry you did not get good news about the margins.....Since I am triple negative I had chemo first then lumpectomy follwed by radiation.  Hopefull they will get clear margins for you the next surgery...but I'm sorry you have to go through that again.  The support on this site has helped me tremendously.

Hopefully someone with more insight into you situation will join in.  The chemo was not too  bad for me when I looked at what some others went through.  I fortunately did not have children at home dluring my treatment...My only son is 34 and married with 4 boys of his own...

All I can do is tell you I'm thinking about you and will pray they get clear margins during your next surgery.

Hi Nancy - I'm a teacher too, although at the opposite end of the spectrum (10th and 12th grade.) I, also, had the unclear margin issue - really a kick when you're down, isn't it?! Is there DCIS up to your margins - that was my issue.

Hoping you get the "all clear" after your re-excision. It's really an easy surgery since there's no SNB involved. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions -

Wishing you all the best! Sue
