Movie Talk
Seeing as the Oscars are just around the corner, I thought it might be cool to find out what other movie nuts are watching. I'm a HUGE movie fan....not many I haven't seen. I haven't seen any of this year's picks, though, except for Winter's Bone. I kinda liked that one. Not easy to forget. I'm always scouting for a great movie I might have missed so please share what you've watched and what you thought. Maybe we can turn it into our own little Critics Corner. It would be nice to hear about those movies that made you wish you could get your two hours of life back, too.
My favourite movies (I can't pick just one) are Gone Baby Gone, Half Nelson, Dawn of the Dead (2004), Shotgun Stories, Unbreakable and Changing Lanes.
Movies I don't waste my time on are any that mention cancer, chick-flicks and romantic comedies.
Actors I'll go out of my way to watch are Will Patton, Michelle Williams, Michal Fassbender and Ryan Reynolds.
I'd love to hear everyone's interests when it comes to movies.

Can anyone recommend a good movie?

Gracie .. I loved Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. Have to have a strong stomach though. I loved Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction, also Harvey Keitel. I also like Full Metal Jacket by Kubrick.
I haven't seen any of the new movies out. I'm not much for romantic comedies either.
I saw you mentioned Gone Baby, Gone. Great movie!

I hear ya Bren. My favourite part of Reservoir Dogs is Michael Madsen cutting off the guys ear and saying "What's the matter...can't you hear me?" I don't think it was supposed to be funny...I have a sick sense of humor.
-
Madsen was so INSANE in that movie! I like the psy thrillers and shoot 'em up movies!
I also like Kevin Costner in "A Perfect World." It's an old movie, but a good one!

I really liked Inception and Black Swan from this year's nominees. Both off-the-wall, unusual movies.
"Memento" "Pi" and "Unusual Suspects" are all also excellent.
-
Yes, A Perfect World and Memento....I agree.....great movies. I've got to check into "Pi". I haven't seen that one.
-
jdeking, thanks for recommending Pi. I watched it last night. I liked it, even though I'm "math impaired!). I love these low-budget obscure movies.
-
Yay, so glad you liked it! I also love those types.
Have you watched any of director David Lynch's movies? He does some crazy wierd interesting movies. "Eraserhead" "Blue Velvet" "Wild at Heart" and the most amazing.. "The Elephant Man"
-
Yes, I have. His movies are a little too weird for me, though.
-
Watched "Fish Tank" last night....reallly good.
-
Oooh, I have to add that to my queue, I was just reading reviews and it sounded interesting.
-
I think you'll like it. Check out "The Visitor" as well.
