I was just diagnosed with breast cancer- stage 0- had my lumpectomy on feb. 14th and experiencing lots of sensitivity on the breast that was operated on. not pain- just sensitivity. does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with it or make it better? wearing a sports bra all the time to help keep the breast still. but still very sensitive. results from pathology came back great- they got everything- non invasive and all good. will be starting radiation in about 3 weeks. thanks.

Dear Jess,   Glad to hear about the good path report.  I do not know what you could do for the sensitivity of your breast.   I think it has been too soon for it to feel better yet.  Just try to take it easy and take care of yourself.   I found sleeping with a small soft cushiony pillow on the surgical side a big help to deal with sleep problems from discomfort.   It is also helpful to use a cushion in the car if your seatbelt goes across surgical breast.  I am still sleeping with my cushion because my cancer side is still very sensitive and sore.  I had a BMX and nodes removed on cancer side.  Radiation will bring out the worst in the surgical area also, but just start moisturizing ASAP and you will do well.  If you get the radiation rash that itches like crazy mix some cortisone cream with your moisturizer before the itching gets too bad and it will get you through rads a lot easier.  Good luck with all..

Thanks so much for the information and suggestions. I reallly appreciate it. Another question- after your lumpectomy were you very tired and lethargic- as I am- and how long did it last? I can take a shower and get dressed and then I am exhausted. I can't do anything else. I have a 5 year old and I so feel like I am not being a good mother because I am so tired and not playing with him as usual.  I am so not used to feeling like this and i just want it to go away. Also, I have heard that radiation makes you tired- is that true as well? Just want to know what to expect. In respect to the breast sensitivity- has anyone tried nursing pads to protect the breast more and did they work? And what kind did you find worked? Thanks everyone.
