GMOs and the FDA

I came across an excellent blog essay in the NYTimes this morning that I thought I would share with you all. If for some reason you can't access it through the link, let me know and I'll just copy the whole thing here.

Edited to make the link work!

Thank you for the link Anne.  I prefer to steer clear of gmo's.  If I ever eat soy, for example, I want it to be organic so I can be reasonably assured that it doesn't contain gmo material.  To have this choice made unavailable, well, I'll give up eating salmon.  It makes me angry to see a rule for labeling that removes my ability to choose between gmo and non-gmo.  It also makes me angry that the deputy commissioner of the FDA is a former vp of monsanto.  Talk about the fox watching the henhouse!

I was stunned that there would be no requirement to label GMOs. But with all the (Colorado-grown) GMO tainted sugar beets, I don't know how one would avoid anything made with processed sugar, or in restaurants, etc. I cannot grow a garden where I live to sustain me...
