Glove or gauntlet?

I've started treatment with an LE therapist and we're dong the massaging/exercising/wrapping I was told to expect. Today we spoke about compression garments after the intensive period of treament is finished. She says she always recommends custom garments since she says they're a better fit and therefore work better.

So here's the thing - she says she always recommends a glove (with fingers) instead of a gauntlet since she feels it's better also. My LE is only in my upper arm (not from my elbow but starting above my elbow). I was hoping to be able to use a gauntlet andstead of a glove. It's mostly a matter of comfort - I don't like the feeling of material between my fingers even with regular gloves. What I'm concerned about is that if I have a glove instead of a gauntlet I'll end up avoiding using anything. I know myself and I know that I'd probably end up with loads of really good excuses not to wear my garments.

The therapist understands this and suggests starting with a gauntlet and going on to a glove if that doesn't seem to be working. So - I'd like to know what other people use and the reasoning so I can figure out if I'm going in a good direction or not.

Thanks.

Leah

Wow, Leah, you really hooked up with a wonderful therapist! She's going with the gold standard, but making room for you to be yourself and make your own decisions. SOOOOO glad you found each other!Smile

I like the plan. Is it possible to get a gauntlet AND a glove? That way you can use the glove when you're doing anything strenuous (exercise, moving furniture, traveling) and have the greater protection, but go with the gauntlet for every-day use.

    Just a thought.

Hugs to you and the very thoughtful therapist too!
