I've heard about it and think it's silly!  if teenagers are educated on cancer and raising awareness by wearing a braclet then I don't see what the issue is.

First thing I thought of too, I think the boobie bracelets are as demeaning as save the tatas so thank goodness someone is banning them

Are they wearing the bracelet for cancer awareness or because they have the word "boobie?" I fear there are many teens that are wearing them for the controversy and to be rebellious. Breast cancer awareness is secondary if a concern at all.

Personally I too find the words boobie, tatas etc. offensive choices for breast cancer awareness. I ♥ boobies bracelets say nothing about breast cancer awareness IMO. What about us women who lost our "boobies" to breast cancer. Don't we deserve ♥ too?!

I found a web site called the scar project and the title says "Breast Cancer an Absolute Reality ", "Breast cancer is not a pink ribbon". I agree I hate pink .... I got a black t-shirt that says I'm to sexy for my hair   A high school kid wearing a bracelet that says I ♥ boobies is only wearing it because it says boobies.

It's silly, silly silly and for that reason alone should be banned. The last thing a bracelet saying "I (heart) boobies" brings to mind is a DNA mutation that destroys organs and kills people. That's what cancer is - not a stupid breast.

I might be alone with this one.  I for one am not offended by the words boobies or ta-tas.  My daughter is in 8th grade and several of the girls in her class has been affected by BC. Four of the young ladies have grandmothers who are either survivors or passed away from the disease and one young lady lost her mother when they were in 7th grade to the disease.  All of the girls in the class wear I heart boobies bracelets in support of the cause.  The boys are not allowed to wear them in school, but several boys have them as well.  I have a boobies bracelet and I wear it proudly because it was a gift from my daughter's friend.  These organizations are bringing awareness to the younger generation (teenagers and young adults) and I see nothing wrong with that.  Also my husband is a middle school teacher and ALL of his students wear the boobies bracelets to show their support and so does he.  No BC  is not fun and speaking as someone who is only 36 with a stage 4 dx from the start, I believe the more awareness the better!

Not so strange, really. It sparked discussion about the bracelets and whether they are spreading awareness and/or a cheeky prank by school boys. I'm thinking maybe it's both. But the comments about the offensiveness of "boobies" and "tatas" is interesting. I thought the bumper sticker odd until someone explained it to me. But bumper stickers don't come with explanation.

To understand the situation better. The story ran today and I wanted to let others know that this issue existed. (Addition) The kids involved here say they were told not to speak publicly about the issue. It seems, however, to have raised breast-cancer awareness by virtue of the attempts to supress it. Thx.

Ladies.......I am from a small town outside of Philadelphia...............In several of the towns including mine the schools have banned these bracelets........My grandson who is 12, and a (slow learner) had one on his arm...............When the announcement was made that they could not wear them he took his off, so as not to get in trouble..............That was February10th.  On February 21st. after my biopsy came back "positive for IDC) my son told his children (4).  One was the little guy who was told to take his bracelet off......which he did as ordred by the school.  He was well aware what this bracelet represented, and what the meaning was behind wearing it.  To support the women who have died, have fought, and are fighting this dreaded disease..............On February 22, he put his bracelet on, and my son said "Stephen, you know what you were told, you can't wear that to school"......................He took it off, but slipped it in his pocket..............That day my son got a phone call from the Principal, and was told my grandson defied the rules and wore his braclet to school............My son was shocked since he told him the rules that very moring.....................The Principa told my son " Stephen said he was fine with not wearing his bracelet, and wanted to obey the rules, but found out (yesterday), that his Nannie has BC, and put his back on, and is wearing it proudly to show he supports his Nannie in anyway he can to help her through this terrible time.....................My son said the Principal's voice was cracking when he told him the story, and said "Stephen can continue to wear his bracelet with my permission", and he must have an incredible Nannie who he loves a lot.................When my grandson came home and repeated the story to my son about what happened in school, he said to his father..........."Dad why are your eyes watery, are you getting a cold"..................Just a nice story about the "boobie bracelets"
