Emotions and blood pressure?

Is anyone else dealing with mood swings and emotions which are all over the place?  I am usually fine, actually quite postive, until something, even something very minor, goes wrong.  When that happens it sends me over the top!  I am dealing with a lot of anger too and when that happens, I feel like I've lost control.  Even if it happens in front of others, I cannot seem to pull myself back together.  I went to my primary care doctor on Friday to get something for a lingering sinus infection and bronchitis and she was a bit concerned about my blood pressure (top number is in the 150's when I'm not nervous, since diagnosis).  I am on a low dose water pill so am continuing that.  I belong to a gym and go 5 to 6 days a week, which helps some.  She gave me .25 mg. of Xanax to take as needed, but it only lasts 4 or so hours and doesn't do a whole lot unless I take 2 when I am feeling out of control.  Does anyone have any other ideas for getting my emotions under control and lowering my BP?  Just an FYI, I was diagnosed with IDC on 1/13, probably stage I or II, grade 3 but no other pathology yet.  My lumpectomy is scheduled for 2/23.

Thanks for any advice you may have or stories you can share about emotions so I don't feel so alone!

    Hi

I remember having ativan as an anti-anxiety med and I found that helped a couple of times when I felt I was going around the bend--maybe you can try that?  I think it is reasonable for your bp to be up a little-- this is stressful.....

Mediation is something I practiced before bc so that helped me a great deal--and certainly going to the gym helps.....

it makes sense to keep an eye on your bp--maybe you could monitor it at home (I do that) and track it--but I think it is entirely possible that this is just situational-- and things will settle down once you have pathology and a plan......

I can relate.  My BP has been all over the map.  Yesterday, I was at the Mayo Clinic and the doc in the breast clinic commented on how "nervous" I was.  My heart was just pounding.

BTW, we were diagnosed on the same day.  :(
