scheduled for bone biopsy
Hi all, have been lurking since August. Have learned a ton from all of you! Thank you.
I am scheduled for a bone biopsy on monday and was wondering if anyone could fill me in on the procedure as to how painful it is and how long it takes to recoup after the procedure?

Hi T-Mac,
My sister had one done a few years ago. It was painful. Hopefully, they'll drug you up nice and good. She's got young kids, so she really couldn't slow down for long. I really don't remember, but I think it was just a couple of days. I'm sure some other girls with direct experience will be along soon to give you their insight.
I wish you the best of luck girl!!!!
((((hugs))))

Hi t-Mac,
Are you having a bonemarrow biopsy? If so, they will do what is call conscious sedation. I had one two years ago. It really was't that bad. I didn't remember anything. You will need to have someone go with you.
I was only allowed to shower for awhile. They should tell you all these things when you go for it.
It wasn't real painful but my hip was sore for awhile. If I bumped my hip it would hurt & it was like for some but not that bad.
Sending you lots of love & support. NJ -

Hi mrsnjband
I do'nt think it is a bone marrow biopsy dr. said bone biopsy of sclerotic lesion. Thank you for the support I am really anxious about this procedure. And of course the outcome, though I think I know what the results are going to be. Our gut instincts are pretty accurate at least mine have been so far. Is it customary to get a bone marrow - I read a lot about those but not so much on a bone biopsy.
Thanks so much for the info and love,

Any word yet from the biopsy?

yes, i just got the results today, and there are mets to my pelvis spine and shoulder and a few other boney areas, not sure about a lung area it is suspicous looking on ct. We did not talk about that so much. I am truly overwhelmed, and very scared but feel like I am in good hands with my dr. He has started a plan for me to be on femera and once a month zometa, we decided to cancel my scheduled radiation. I can not believe this is happening to me and my family. Telling my kids is the hardest. I feel like I have to be strong for everyone and being that way does'nt allow me to show how I feel (selfish?) Well anyway thank you to all who are here and give lots of hope and love,
Trish

Trish,
I wish you were not dealing with this. I hope you don't continue to feel that you have to be strong for others. Take care of your own needs, let them help in every way they can. The sisters here will help, too, I know.
Hugs, G.
