So...whats for dinner?

I just wanted to stop in and wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving, and for those of our Sisters who are having treatments or surgery on Thanksgiving Day, know that we are also thinking of you.
-
Tazzy, safe and enjoyable trip. KAARA, I am not responsible for dinner this year either. But I do get to make pies! LOL My DD is doing everything else. Sent her home with all the serving bowls and platters too, last weekend when she was home.
Carol, I second Kaara that dinner sounded good.
Nancy, hope the sleep study goes well.
Much love to all. -
We're all pooling money to pay for a newly reopened restaurant to bring us dinner tomorrow. So, I can tell you, "No MREs".
Eric -
eric - yay for no more MREs! Try to have a happy T-day even though you are far from home!
-
Yay EricI Enjoy a well-deserved meal. Your name will be invoked at our T-giv table tomorrow as we give thanks for those who make a difference in ours and others' lives.
Busy in the kitchen....tho taking a break to go with DH to ophthalmologist to again discuss the plan for his scheduled cataract surgery. He keeps hearing about other hi-tech procedures that other docs do, so is totally confused about which way to go! Guess I can't complain about his obsessiveness since it is about his sight afterall......
Hope your sleep study goes well, Nance. I have been avoiding that....maybe you will have encouraging news!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! -
Eric, yay for no MREs tomorrow. Enjoy Thanksgiving dinner. Say Hi to Sharon and the kids from us too when you talk. It's hard to be away on a holiday. Thanks for helping others. Also wish a happy Thanksgiving to all those with you there! Much love to all.
-
Eric - So glad to hear you will have a nice meal.
My new wig - it's pretty nice, I think.
-
Michelle......Love, love, love it!!
-
Michelle. It's really cute!
-
Like your wig, Michelle!!
-
Michelle Love the wig...especially the lighter color...very nice!
Happy Turkey Day everyone!!
-
I'm sure a lot of you are in full cooking mode today.
Eric, enjoy your well deserved meal. It's good work that you're doing there.
Safe travels Tazzy!
Michelle, absolutely LOVE the wig. You and DD made a good choice.
The sleep study kinda sucked. I spent 4 1/2 hours tossing and turning tangled up in cords and electrode wires. Not to mention yards of tape sticking more stuff on my face and under my nose and gooey paste attaching more nodes in my hair. Unbelievably, I guess I did sleep, although I didn't feel like I did, and at 3 a.m. the tech came in and told me if I couldn't take it any more, I could leave (I was awake). I laid there for a minute more then decided to leave. DH was at a hotel about 5 miles from the sleep lab (about 60 miles from home) so I made my getaway. The good news is, I don't have an apnea and heart and breathing function was all normal. So why don't I sleep well? No answer there yet.
Wishing all of you a very wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. I'm very thankful for all of you! -
OMG, Michelle. It is beautiful !! Love it! You and DD are a good selection team!
Nance, sorry it was so awful...I suspect I would have the same results which is why I resist the experience.....so far... -
Debbie, I was told ahead of time that they would give me ambien, but when I got there it was not offered not did I ask for any. I figured they might as well evaluate me in my natural state. I'm kind of glad they didn't give me any, because if they had I would have had to stay there until 6.
Lacey, it wouldn't have been so bad, they had sleep number beds and the environment was pleasant enough, but I was pretty sure I didn't have an apnea so feel like it was kind of a waste of time. -
I love your new hair, Michelle!
Susan, I will try to make that. Thanks!
I am so glad that I am off off off for 4 days!
No Black Friday shopping for me! I'd rather stay home and watch the parade
Happy Thanksgiving all!
-
Michelle- LOVE the wig! The color and style suit you amazingly!
Nancy- Sorry you had such a bad time with the sleep study
At least you got out of there early.
Bedo- Yay on extra days off and not getting involved in Black Friday, I don[t do it either.
My stuffing is made and I did the squash today too. DH will get up early and get the turkey going. Love him! Dinner tonight is take out pizza
-
That is definitely your color Michelle and style.
I believe the Caonolies are wholesale, a lot of restaurants order from them.
My DD is here from Bermuda, she is doing Black Friday with her best friend. She comes here but I hardly see her, she is so busy doing things. But she will be here until the 26th she leave early in the morning the 27th.
-
Absolutely love the wig Michelle! We had a great time in Paris and are at the charity ball in London. It is wonderful. Will report more later.
Eric, thank you for your service. Take care and hope you are okay.
I have missed keeping up with everyone and looking forward to catching up later. Take care. -
The wig looks really good, Michelle. Very attractive.
Got all of my dishes done today except green beans and the turkey. DH will be making his mac and cheese tomorrow and the turkey will spend time in the oven. At the moment I'm savoring my vodka martini.
Tonight's dinner is ribeye steak, roasted brussel sprouts and tossed salad.
-
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Have pre-cooked the acorn squash - will glaze tomorrow, pre-cooked the green beans - will finish on the stove with parmesan and almonds, made the artichoke dip appetizer, in the middle of the layered jello salad (MIL's recipe - T-day tradition), and raosting the extra turkey breast and sweet potatoes right now. Tomorrow is the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and desserts. Did the cranberry sauce on Tuesday. I would kill for a double oven - this is the first house I have lived in without one for a long time!
Michelle - love the wig!
-
Michelle, That wig is stunning on you! I thought that you looked terrific the other day, but now... even better.
My bread was resistant to rising today, so it has just come out of the oven. Silly isn't it? To have fresh baked bread only to cube it and get it stale as fast as possible? My timing was off on this ingredient this year. Gravies, creamed onions, cranberry sauce, herbed goat cheese with salmon, spiced nuts, and all the mise en place for stuffing and corn are done. The brine is made and chilled. Mr. Turkey will go swimming around 8 tonight.
Hope everyone has a lovely holiday, filled with laughter.

-
Michelle- I absolutely love, love that on you! Just so cute.
Finshed my stuffing, yams, broccoli casserole. pineapple fruit salad and pies. Our friends are coming from San Jose, Ca tomorrow morning so have lots of cleaning up to do after cooking all that but got most of the other house work done! What a busy day.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERONE!
Have fun with family and friends, much love to all!
-
Wow, Michelle - that's a great photo of you. I love the color! Beautiful!

Re: cannolis - my husband is Italian and from the Hudson Valley area in New York.
We finally found a place to get canolis in our general vicinity but the one time we went we had to wait in line 30 minutes to buy them!
In case anyone is interested or lives in the Los Angeles area and craves canolis (or canollis?) this is the place:

The only thing I had to accomplish today was get two pies done. Um, no. First I didn't have what I needed. Then I het home and forgot kitty food. Had to go back to store. Got it came homrvsnd couldn't find pie pans. Looked in kitchen, garage. Basement. WTH? Of course, I hadn't used pie plates since last year. In that year. DD and DH cleaned basement, garage and closets. Probably thought they were junk and pitched them, or DD and two neices moved thier stuff out of our basement and they could have mistakenly taken them . Any way. Had to borrow some from neighbor. Them had a meltdown due to DH and something weird, so just couldn't face it. So guess I will do it tomorrow. Dinner is at 6pm at my DD, so no rush. I will do it tomorrow. LOL guess I shouldn't melt down, huh. LOL
-
Well I see that Ruby the cat, has brought me a mouse 6 out of the last 7 days. I have tried bells, yelling and trying to keep her inside She howls for ever if she can't go out. They are outside the house frozen. I don't know what to make with them. Does anyone have a recipe for mouse pie?
Sorry, feeling funny with too many days off (for me)
-
Bedo,
I think a satay would be good, with a lemongrass marinade. :-)
*susan*
-
Bedo, you just dont appreciate good mousse! LOL
-
We live near a lot of wilderness and have deer in the driveway almost every other evening.
One night not too long ago we pulled in the driveway and the automatic light went on and a roof rat/field rat - whatever they're called - was just then sidling into the garage through the narrow crack between the garage door and the garage frame.
Ugh.
There's not much you can do about them other than be horrified for a few hours.
And I was.
