Employment Status and BC diagnosis

I don't post anywhere else on BC boards, so this might seem like a strange place to post, but would like to get a pulse on anyone whose work status has been affected by their BC diagnosis and treatment. I am worried that I am being pushed out of my current organization, despite meeting my objectives for 2010. I was diagnosed shortly after I received a promotion last year, and my work suffered for awhile while I was going through treatment and getting life back on track. I improved enough to make my numbers for the year, meeting my goals by 105%.

However, we have a pending reorganization, and I get the sensation I am being pushed out of our organization. There seems to be no spot open for me, and my boss is telling me I should be interviewing for other parts of the organization. I cannot help but think my diagnosis plays a role in this, since 2010 was a bit rocky for me performance-wise, even though I made my numbers.

Anyone have experience with this? I should have taken medical leave, but chose to take only 2 days off for surgery, and truncated my days by 1 hour during rads. I took a week of vacation at the end of my treatment, following a big event we produced.

Any words of advice would be appreciated. I really need to work, as I have 3 small children and we rely on my paycheck to keep our lives afloat.

MariannaHB:  Are you working for a Southern California aerospace company?  (You don't have to tell me which one).  I am working for one; re-orgs and things sound familiar.

I don't think one week plus a few days off was too much time to take off.  I really don't.  Especially when you performed so very, very well last year and met those goals.

I think you should take your bosses' advice and interview for other parts of the organization.  That way, you've at least tried to follow Management's advice.

If you want to PM me, feel free to do so.
