Hello my name is Stiney and I'm from Jacksonville, FL.
My partner E was diagnosed with breast cancer almost two months ago. They did a
PET and as of Jan.7 we know it's metastized to various spots on her bones including her spine She's 36 and doing VERY well with treatment. After two rounds of chemo her primary
tumor has shrunk 81% and the doctor said he's not worried about the mets to her
bones. He said they're not good but his main concern in the primary tumor. She
has 5 more treatments then she will be getting a mastectomy on the tumor side.
The doctor said after her 4th treatment they will do another PET to check and see how her mets are doing on the chemo she's taking.
She's been VERY strong so far not just mentally but physically. She's an
elementary school teacher and hasn't missed a full day of school yet. I'm so
very proud of her and wish I could be as strong as she is. I'm good and stoic
when she's around but when I'm away from her I feel like I'm losing my mind at
times. In the age of google I can't stay off the internet and seeing the stats
for Stage 4 makes me feel hopeless at times even when I see the ass kicking
she's doing to the cancer.
I just wanted to find a place where I could talk and know that others know how I
feel.

Hello Stiney. Forget the statistics. Every case is different. Every patient is an individual. I'm a 3 year survivor of stage 4 head and neck cancer. Some who had it worse than me had an easier time with treatments and some who had it nat as bad had a harder time. Now we're dealing with my wife's stage 2 breast cancer and she's having a rough time of it. It's never easy but cancer can be beaten. Just don't let the numbers get to you.
