Saying a prayer that your surgery goes well tomorrow KRomanoFight....
-
Hey Sistas!
I'm barging in on you from the 2010 Sisters IDC thread just to give you encouragement. Yesterday I celebrated one year PFC (post final chemo) which was FEC-T and not any fun. But today I am feeling almost 100% like before. My hair grew back, I feel healthy and strong, and you will too. Do you what you need to do to beat this crap. Rest when you need to, take your meds, let people wait on you, have faith and trust your instincts. You can do it.
Hugs!!
-
KRomano.....you will be close to my heart all day tomorrow. I hope everything goes well for you. I will be watching for your posts to make sure it all went okay. It will...good feelings here. Take very good care.
Thank you all for cheerleading for me. It means so much!
You are all very special ladies and I hope everyone gets some good news soon. My dream for all of you!
Just a ton of hugs.....................
Janis

Janis - yay for you and no chemo!!!
KRomanoFight - thinking of you today. Hope all goes well.
Had my MRI yesterday. Now waiting for the results (hopefully Friday). Sure I will be scheduled for biopsies next week though so more tests and more waiting. The story of our lives.
Have a good day everyone.

All, I am in my room recovering. Just a little uncomfortable. But they are taking good care of me. 3 nodes removed and all cancer free. He is also sure that the margins are clear as well. So lots of good news today. Thank you for all of the support! You are all amazing people. No restrictions, and I will be in until tomorrow morning.
Shelley, Thanks for the encouraging words. We'll be strong and we can do this! -
KRomanoFight: Good news - yay! Get lots of rest and please take care!!!

Kitty BIG congrats on your big fat ZERO! This is one club we all want to be underachievers in!!! Way to go!
-

-
Awesome news KittyGirl!!!

I have a friend who has just been diagnose with IDC but the kicker is it is in one breast and that side has no node involvement the other breast has no cancer but has node involvement. Does this sound crazy or have any of you experienced this outcome. Please let me know.
-
balsie: Hi, sorry to hear that your friend has joined the BC club
. How did they determine that the side with node involvement has no cancer (mammogram, MRI, mastectomy)? I hate to be negative, but many of us (especially with dense breasts) have additional cancers found at mastectomy that never showed up on any imaging procedures. I hope that's not the case for your friend, but I suppose it is one possibility.
My best to both of you!
-
Fantastic KittyGirl! What a load off your mind that must be. So happy for you!
-
Hi everyone,
Just adding myself to the club and wanted to say hello. Did a separate post introducing myself in the IDC forum. I was just diagnosed Wednesday with IDC and at this point there is more I don't know about my status than what I do know! Lots of appointments coming in the next few weeks and the lumpectomy is scheduled for 9/8. I'm one of those laid-back, easy going people so I can't say that I'm very emotional about all of this. It's very much just one day at a time!
Thanks for welcoming me and I hope to get to know you all!
Joanna

madpeacock: Welcome the the Class of 2011! Sorry you have to be here. Expect ups and downs, all normal as you can imagine. Good that you're already a "take one day at a time" person because that seems to be the best way to handle things. You're starting at a good place and once your plan is in place the process will be a bit easier. Ask lots of questions and learn as much as you can so you can make the best choices for you.
Best wishes for smooth sailing!!!
-
It's confirmed, margins are clear, nodes are negative. The tumor was a bit larger then expected but didn't get into the muscle. I go back in 10 days. My BRAT testing came back with a mutation, but I'm not really worried about that.
Sorry you have to be here but welcome madpeacock. The women here are wonderful, supportive and strong. Good luck to you!
-
KRomanoFight: Sounds like good news - congratulations!!!
-
madpeacock, welcome to our sisterhood but sorry it has to bring with it BC. You will find LOTS of good information on the website that will help you make informed decisions about your care. You will also find a wonderful group of women who will support you, let you whine and rant all you want and still give you that love and (HUGS) that you will need and enjoy. I couldn't make this journey without them.
kromonafight, excellent news! Keep the positives rolling in and feel good!
TinaT, Hope your doing well now and moving on to your next step.
My mammosite insertion went well today. Tired, but no pain. Start Rads on Monday at 7:30am. I'm not a morning person, but I know they will have the coffee and courage ready for me. Kitty

Hi all -
Just got my MRI results. The one small tumor we know about is all there is. The remaining masses are believed to be fibroadenomas. They want to do one more ultrasound and perhaps a biopsy on one of them to be absolutely sure but they're pretty sure. No lymph node involvement so no chemo.
So, lumpectomy, radiation, tamoxifen for me! I can't believe I'm happy about this but considering the alternative, I'm very relieved.
Welcome to all the newcomers - sorry you have to be here but you're in good company.
Have a great weekend ladies. I intend to have a good night's sleep tonight for the first time in over a month.
-
jenn333: Congratulations!
How many masses are seen? I thought it was routine to biopsy all masses seen on MRI, but perhaps I'm mistaken.
-
Hi everyone. KRomano, GREAT news on clear margins! I hope things go easikly for you the rest of the journey.
Welcome madpeacock......sorry you had to join this group, but you couldn't find a nicer and more helpful group of woman anywhere. They are awesome!
Jenn I am thrilled to hear no chemo for you either. I am sure everything will be easier now that the wait is over and you can begin rads.
Kitty, thrilled that the mammosite insertion went well and you are feeling okay!! Great news. I think we will be starting radiation almost together.
I went in today and got my little freckle tattoos. My oncologist asked me if I could start radiation Tuesday or Wednesday. You bet! I told him the sooner the better. So next week it sounds like.
Have a warm, wonderful weekend one and all!
Janis
-
Kitty and Janis be sure to keep us posted on the radiation. I'm anxious to hear since I'll be traveling that path in the next month or so.
Have a great rest of the weekend, hopefully it is relaxing!
-
KRomano will keep you posted. I think I start Tuesday or Wednesday. I wonder when they will start me on Arimidex? I guess that will be coming up soon too.
I hope everyone is doing well this weekend!
Hugs to you all...
Janis

Hi Tina - I had 6 FNAs on the other masses at the same time as my biopsy. Path report said "mild atypia" consistent with fibroadenomas but given the diagnosis of IDC in the one tumor they found were not prepared to rule anything else out. All of the other masses apparently are the same as each other amd the radiologist wants to take another close look on U/S. The BS said that since they all appear to be the same as each other, they may want to biopsy one to make sure it's benign.
-
jenn333: Thanks so much for responding. I feel better knowing that they checked the cells in each of them
. I hope they do the other biopsy just to be sure, as you said. Good luck, my fingers are crossed!!!
-
Good luck Janis!
