Hi everyone,

I just signed up for the discussion boards.  Met with my surgeon today and the news wasn't terrible but not as good as it was 3 weeks ago.  Apparently there is a postive margin that cannot be re-operated on due to its location and that it would cut into a muscle.

Have to admit it shook me since I was told that all the tests looked extremely good with no positive margins.  They plan on handling this with radiation.

Anyone in the same situation or can think of anything I'm not considering yet?  I haven't started treatment yet probably in 2 weeks.

M

Marcic - I was not in the same situation, but wanted to respond and welcome you to bc.org.  Sorry you are here, but know that you will find support, great information and some wonderful friends here.  From what I have learned on here, radiation is often how they treat margin issues.

I don't know of any other way - are they doing an oncotype to determine chemo, or was your tumor insitu?

Hang in there - this will be behind you.  You may want to repost your topic on the radiation forum and there should be a group starting radiation roughly the same time as you - those threads were really helpful to me at the time.

    Take care of yourself!
