My Mom Has Cancer

Hi there,

 My name is Devon and I am seventeen years old. My mom got diagnosed with breast cancer almost four years ago (she is in remission now). I got the idea for a forum during a University scholarship interview. I had mentioned on my application that my mom had breast cancer, and the interviewers asked me how I dealt with it. I told them that I did it kind of by myself, aside from my mom and dad and sister.

Then I thought about one of my best friends - her mom had just gotten cancer a few months ago and the first (and only, as far as I know) person she called was me. I was the only person that she knew who had gone through a similar situation.

 

So I told the interviewers that my mom's cancer made me want to help other kids who are going through the same unfortunate situation. There are all these sites where kids talk to adults and adults give advice to the kids, but there are not that many places where kids can talk to kids.

 So I made decided to make this forum... and I decided to come here because I know that this is such a large community that some people may know kids who need to talk to other kids.

 I don't really know how else to get this "out there". I read over the rules and I don't think this is infringing any of them, but please let me know if I am.

What a wonderful idea Devon. Just wonderful. I'm sure that there are ....way too many.....kids out there that will be able to benefit from your forum, just as so many of us benefit from this one.

I know it's new. Don't give up on it. This form had one member at one time. Look at it now.
