enlarged ovaries and new cysts after herceptin

I finished herceptin in October and haven't had a period in 14 months. I noticed the hot flashes stopped when I finished herceptin and my hair and nails started growing faster. I also started having pain that felt like menstrual cramps. It occasionally feels like Sharp pain so I went to my gyno where she discovered the one small cyst I had on my right ovary is now accompanied by a few more. Also, both ovaries are enlarged and tender. She immediately mentioned ovarian cancer. I'm only 33 so it could just be my body trying to start ovulating again. Did anyone else experience this??

I did'nt have this but have known of others who have, and began to have their period soon after.

It may well be this is all it is but you'd be wise to have a check done on the ovaries if only for peace of mind. I was older than you at forty six when I finished herceptin so decided to have an ooph and take an A1.   My onc agreed as breast and ovarian can be closely linked and I was highly triple pos.

However, I'm over five years out and have yet to hear of anyone being diagnosed with ovarian cancer after breastcancer!

Thank you. It's nice to hear that you know of others. I spoke to my regular oncologist yesterday and he thinks its just my period trying to start. I'm going to get it checked out anyway. To be continued!

Hi

I was just doing some research and came across your post. I am going through a very similar situation. i am 29yrs old n just got over with herceptin, and had a pelvic ultrasound last week,

which shows enlarged ovary. I am also having lot of cramps like my periods are going to start, i have not had any periods since 1 yr when i started chemo. I am really worried abot all this. 

Can you tell me so what did you do next went for an MRI or any other test, and did the ovaries get back to normal.

I would be really helpful info.
