Today marks my 1 year since diagnosis.  Finally, I am on the other side.  I had my last surgery 7 weeks ago.  I have some healing to do but my treatments are over.  What a ride and one I wish I had never been on.  This place has been so important to me and helped me in so many ways.  Thank you to all the women here.

Congratulations!!  May you have a long happy life without cancer.

I had my 1 year mammogram in November and they found DCIS in the other breast.  I thought I would be celebrating...so I had surgery again in Dec and radiation is about to begin for the 2nd time... just finished radiation to the left breast in August 2010.. I am determined to get it all behind me too.

    hugs,

    Valariew

Hi, i sent you a pm before I saw your post saying much the same.. I am so glad things are going well for you. It's a year for me too. I feel so fortunate to be where I am now, given how I was a year ago.

Congratulations! You have been a big help to me over the last few months as our pathologies are so similar. I can't wait until I reach my 1 year mark too!

Congratulations, that is good news. I remember those first days, because I was here as well. I didn't really know what to do on my "cancerversary", but I am relieved that the treatments are behind me. Still have a lot of depression and fears (PTSD?), but hopefully time will take care of the that.

So glad to hear you've finished all the surgeries.

I am so pleased for you.  My first annual check up following mastecomy is due soon and I am terrified as a lymph node has recently appeared near my collar bone on the other side.  It isn't painful but I am scared that the cancer may now have appeared on that side too.

Although I recoverd from the mastectomy quite quickly, I have become a nervous wreck and abdominal problems are now being investigated.  So far, all blood tests, chest X-Ray and ultrasound have come back as "normal" but.......

On a brighter note, I rejoined my gym in January this year and today I acutally did a short run on the treadmill, this being the first since my operation. Smile
