edited June 2014 in Stage I Breast Cancer

Hi ladies. My mom's biopsy just came back today. Her surgeon confirmed it's cancer. In is words, based upon the size alone - it's very, very small. From a clinical stand point, he estimated it was stage 1, although he did add that this stage could not be confirmed until the normal testing.

Here's my real question - what do we do now? We live local to the Phila area. Would you recommend continuing care at the local hospital that is affiliated with FoxChase Cancer Center or should we directly look into one of the larger cancer centers in Phila (U of Penn, Jefferson, Fox Chase). She likes her current surgeon, but it does seem like he's rusing her imto lumpectomy without evaluating other options - especially since she did express an interest in learning more about a mastectomy. (We have a very strong history of breast cancer) What's the next step? Should she schedule the node testing with her current doctor and then look toward a larger cancer center.... or just go directly to the cancer center. I recognize I have asked a lot of questions.. I just want to provide her with the most information so she can make the right decision for her. Thank you!
