Sheila -  I really like this one because it is so quick to cut out and sew together.  Also, you don't have to use 5 colors and don't have to follow the instructions to the letter.  My border and binding did not follow the colors in pattern.  I wanted lots of red so I did the border in that color.

Meece - I want to thank you for inspiring me to getting back to quilting.  I did not realize how much I missed and the fun I have doing it.  Now, it seems I am almost out of control.  Before I have on finished, I am already planning another one.  Like my onc would say, Life Is Good!  Thanks again.

I just finished the 'mystery quilt' that my quilt guild started in 2008 as the challenge for the year! I had one of the ladies who works from her house machine quilting for others do the quilting for me. I just wanted to get it done. The original size was full size but I had enough extra fabric (came from stash) that I was able to do several borders on it to make it queen size.

I just started another one of those 5 yard quilts.  This one is in shades of purple with some pink and white in it.  When I get the top done, I will post a picture of it.

Meece - I know the about the guilt and going to the fabric store.  Since "Uncle Sam" has not given me an increase in my military retirement check the last 2 years and the prices going up, I am sure feeling the pinch.  I have to give something up just to buy fabric and allow me to do what I love.  I need the distration so I somehow make it work.

I am using up scraps on the GG quilt, since each block doesn't take much.  I raided Mom's scraps already.  When I need the background color I will need to splurge.

THERE is Sheila's quilt!! Sheila, I use Firefox and have Facebook. Just right click on the picture, come back here to the comments box and right click for paste. It will have a box pop up that asks if you want to allow this to happen. You say yes. Then paste again and it should happen.

I just noticed the loose thread on the purple border. I won't take full credit for this quilt, I had a friend who has a long arm machine do the quilting for me. I bartered a filet crochet name table runner for the quilting.

Hi everybody, maybe you can help me with this. I am just getting my machine out after a 10 year hiatus. First I have to unpack my sewing room. We moved just after I had surgery in Illinois and before chemobegan in Wa. Since the sewing room won't unpack itself it has to wait for me to want to and be ab le to walk up the stairs to where it is. I am now showing signs of at least wanting to do it. Wishing I was back sewing and just messing around with my stuff, my ver own stuff!

I hope one of my friends can help me find a dress form for an 8" tall Muffie or Ginny or Ginger doll from the fifties. I have been on eBay and cannot find what I am looking for. Muffie, and Ginny dolls were designed to be like 7 year old girls. This was the last generation of dolls before Barbie. My friends and I played with our Muffie dolls all the time.

I would love to find a dress form for Muffie.

Gingerbrew - It took me some time to get back to sewing.  Meece inspired me to get started again and I am well into it again.  I have finished a couple of quilts and have another on in progress.

Jo thanks for the compliment. This was a mystery quilt done by my quilt guild. We didn't know what the final quilt would look like.  We were given a list of fabrics with how each relate to each other (a focus fabric. b,c,d same color -light, med, dark value and so on) and amounts to purchase of each. About half of the fabrics I used came out of my mother's stash as well as my stash so I had extra yardage to use as borders since the original list didn't include border yardage. We were given cutting and sewing instructions over several months. I don't normally use the color green, but the purple/pink paisley was in my mom's stash and I fell in love with it as my focus fabric. I used the greens in that fabric to pick the green colors that I used. What doesn't show is all the borders that I made on the quilt. Outside the purple border I cut all the greens into short lengths and did a green pieced border, then a narrow pink border and finished out with an 8 inch paisley border. Even though this quilt top without borders is approx a full size, with all the borders I was able to get it big enough for my Queen size bed.
