I am wondering how ur medical team staged you and treated you.

I am worried that that lymph node is a bad sign :(

The enlarged intercostal lymph node was only seen in the first MRI that I had.  In the last 3 MRIs it was not seen. It was never biopsied.

I did neoadjuvant chemo then had left mastectomy and axilliary dissection.  Post surgical report showed all negative nodes.  The intercostal node cannot be removed.  So there is no way of knowing whether the intercostal node was/is +/-.

I am planning on getting rads in the mammary area in addition to chest wall, axilliary and sub.clavical area.

However, I am seeking the experiences of others because my onc. told me that he discussed my case during rounds with the other breast oncologists.  And none of them have ever dealt with an enlarged intercostal lymph node.  That it's very unusual... ???

Being an "unusual case" is freaking me out.

Nanna - I don't have experience with your particular situation, but was told by my onc that the surgery gets the tumor out, the chemo kills any remaining cells and the radiation catches any little escapees (that was worded in non medical terms).  If you are not comfortable with your treatment a second opinion may shed more light on your dx or reinforce what your onc is telling you. Peace of mind is important and I hope that you can find the answers you're looking for.
