My best friend of 25 years was recently diagnosed and will undergo a double mastectomy after results of the lymph test.  I'm looking for advice on best ways to help.  I'm a couple of hours away but want to get things started for her and her family.

What do you think about one of the sites with calendars for meal planning and for friends to sign up to take meals?

I'm a previous Race for the Cure participant and team captain so I'll form a team in her honor for October 2011.

Any advice is welcome.  Thank you in advance.

Sbrik, I think organizing friends to help with meals for the family is a great idea.  I don't know how many children she has or what their ages are but it might help a lot if friends could also help out with housekeeping, laundry and carpooling the kids to and from school and activities.  I hope your friend recovers well from her surgery.  I had a double mastectomy back in July of 09 and I did really well with the help of my friends and family.  I think it's really great that you're taking a proactive approach.  I'm sure any help you can give your friend will be greatly appreciated.  Good luck to you both.
