Why doesn't it bother you he is taking advantage of the taxpayers who are struggling or out of work ?

And honestly...would it bother you if he were a Republican???

Once the HC bill is repealed, alot of unnecessary government jobs will be eliminated. Thank goodness...government needs to get smaller, not bigger.

    -----------------------------------------------

Medigal - btw...I am VERY involved with my congressmen - I helped to get him elected (we unseated the dem incumbant). I volunteer for 4 elected officials in my area, helping them to address the government problems discussed in the past few pages. The squeaky wheel gets oiled.

What part of I'm glad he got to go on a nice vacation ... is not sinking in?  If I was the Pres, I'd take a nice vacation too. It wouldn't matter if he was a republican .. I don't begrudge any of the presidents taking vacation time.

Erica, doesn't bother me about BO's vaca. IMHO, he needs a rest like anyone would.

One of my weird friends emailed me this link. I found it well.. strange but interesting. I don't care how much POTUS spends because he needs a serious vaca and it takes $$ to protect him but..whatever. The link does not provide proof of the allegation (that Pelosi did this at our expense) so that is objectionable to me.

Laura:  I figured you were politically active from your posts.  Too many people just think it takes a lot of "squeaky" wheels to get something done but I am glad you have shown that we "all" can make a difference if we just take the time to do our part.

Whether I am for the Tea Party or not, it is very gratifying to see people get actively involved in making changes for the better in their government.  I hope you will be able to continue your work with the politicians since this year can be very concerning with the Repubs and Dems butting heads now.  It's going to be scary to see what "cuts" they are forced to make to bring down the deficit. I hope you have stocked up on a "lot" of oil!

Medigal, thanks! I don't need to stock up on oil, my "energy" is free...it comes from within! lol  Smile

Thanks for the link Barbara .. it isn't cheap for him to leave D.C. that's for sure.  I didn't read anything about Pelosi vacationing on the taxpayers dime.

Me thinks, after attaining the ripe old age of 54, that while many politicians, regardless of the party to which they belong, start out with a sense of purpose and to help. By the time they start amassing power it seems that the purpose starts to fade and all begin to resemble each other. Neither of the major parties are all bad or all good. There are good and bad fairly divided among them all. I learned a long time ago to kind of just start humming when the discussion gets a bit too heated. I remember meeting Tom DeLay years ago and being so creeped out. Whenever I would mention it through the years as his power grew, I was shouted down as a liberal yankee who should never have moved to Texas! Ahem. mind you, whenever I brought him up I merely was pointing out he made my skin crawl on personal level. That any married man that hit on a married woman was was a puke. And a puke couldn't be good for anyone. I don't care what his party affiliation. There are, I am sure, an equal amount of pukes in the Democratic party. As for money, they all spend too much on too many things that mean nothing to anyone other than amassing said power (see above:)  Personally, it drives a lot of people crazy who know me who refuse to accept that I agree with some things on one side, and others on another side. They insist it has to be either or. I say nope, not true, at least for me. But having BC has proved my theory that nothing is truly black or white...lots of gray in there.

Laura:  I was just kidding with you.  I really didn't think you had to squirt oil in your ears to work politically.  I have done it for years and never used a drop of oil unless I had an earache.  Sorry you misunderstood.  I see I forgot to put my Smile face behind the remark.  I'll try to do better next time.

Hee! Hee! I found you and have read 5 pages catching up. So good to see you all here.

Otter - great article laughed my A off. I really had no idea a Camry could do so much dammage. LOL

Annette - I agree, but I would never have been called Yankee! (here in AL, that's closer to an insult than the word "liberal")

I have always said that it didn't make sense to me that someone would spend millions of dollars to acquire a job that pays less than $200,000. There has to be a pay off of some kind - money and the power to make more money. Public servant? That's laughable.

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and mine was over today when I carried my son, his wife and their 13 month old back to the airport. Now don't get me wrong, I love them dearly but for the life of me, I was so glad to see them go. I have lived with no one else in this house for the past 10 years and it felt like they moved in with 20 people. My house is a wreck, the dish washer is full and so is the sink. The refrigerator is empty (not really a bad thing) and the tree is still up and I'm so happy to be able to use my own remote control to watch something I want to watch. OH life is good! I'm going to soak in the tub and go to bed early. I'll catch up with you tomorrow. Night!

Vacations...really????? Why is that even an issue? I believe Reagan and W took more time away from their jobs than anyone in recent times. I hoped we yapped about that as much...

Re: the Dems looking sour today. c'mon. Every party not holding the gavel looks sour.

My sour look comes from budget deficits out the roof due to two "conflicts" that seem endless, and not budgeted for in the first place. We spend more in a day in the Middle east than we do (or will ) on Health Care.

Anne, Obama can end the wars any time he wants.   Wink  All he has to do is make sure our troops get out safely.

Oh, and must I post reminders of who and what was said about going into war?  About the WMDs?  Do we REALLY want to go down that road AGAIN?....I was for it before I was against it?

Anyone know why Pelosi joked about Boehner's 'giant' gavel being the biggest one ever seen in the House? When her gavel she used when health care passed (lent to her my John Dingell) was way bigger?

Morning Barbara ... don't have an answer.  I did watch the swearing in and it seemed she was trying to be funny.  Who knows why Boehner needs a huge gavel to run the daily House.  Pelosi should probably have kept her giggles to herself!!
