Kam, these situations make a mockery of capitalism. Its corporate statism. But AIG suing the government for bailing it out arguing that it could have made its own money when that was patently false is an attempt to corrupt the jusitce process in addition to the executive one. Those sociopaths deserve the worst.

Belinda, as to your second poster - how true.

Momine, hope your snow comes back. I wish we had some of it.

    River_Rat -

The most recent pair of reading glasses include a stronger prescription to "fix" the astigmatism in my left eye.  Basically, I've been seeing with my right eye all my life and have had no depth perception.  Now that it's fixed, I can see things in 3D and WOW is it scary!  Especially my Hulk Hands.  I can't stop staring at them.

I read a little about the AIG lawsuit.  Just another group who thinks the government owes them something.

Alexandria - and Romney got exactly 47% of the vote.  Isn't it just so ironic.  I wonder, will we ever find out who that waiter in Boca Raton was?

Enjoyful, ah now I get it.  I have an astigmatism too but I've had a prism in my left lense for decades - can't remember what the change was like now.

Bren...glad to hear you had such good results, and can graduate to a  5 yr. plan.  Yay!!!

Paula.. really glad you are over the hump....I did A/C  ----  only had 4, and so glad when they were done.  I lost 38 #'s at that time and not from the D word.  It is cumulative but I still say....I gave up 6 mos. of my life to get my life back and though chemo had its difficulties, I did not question the need to have it.  Over five yrs out now and I'm here.....stronger than I was before.

lindasa...I'm with you on too many Nra's and others "asserting" their manhood with their guns.  Also with the lunatic rants.  We are not in simple times that is for sure but I still think about those little children who had "rights" that were EXTREMELY violated and people like Gabby Gifford who was as well...........well, what about their 'rights'.  I see no need for ordinary citizens to have these weapons, period.  Big sighs........I'd like to super heat those weapons and "shove" them somewhere.

I have astigmatism - untreatable for me, as far as I know. BUT I haven't been to the doc in years. Is that some new technology, E?

Some wise words from the retired General:

"Does it make a difference when a man's man like Stanley McChrystal says he supports gun control?:

"I spent a career carrying typically either a M16, and later a M4 carbine," he said. "And a M4 carbine fires a .223 caliber round, which is 5.56 millimeters, at about 3,000 feet per second. When it hits a human body, the effects are devastating. It's designed to do that. That's what our soldiers ought to carry."

Said McChrystal, "I personally don't think there's any need for that kind of weaponry on the streets and particularly around the schools in America. I believe that we've got to take a serious look -- I understand everybody's desire to have whatever they want -- but we have to protect our children and our police and we have to protect our population. And I think we have to take a very mature look at that."

Belinda-I wish there was a "like" button here sometimes. That cartoon reminded me of a conversation I was having with some teacher colleagues today. We all agreed that the day we are required to carry a gun is the day we are all going to quit.

    Athena -

I don't know what kind of lens they used to fix the astigmatism, but it works!  I can actually read with my left eye now!  And see huge things in 3D.

Will ask my opthalmologist about that, E. I wear contacts and the toric lenses are meant to slightly help astigmtism but they do no such thing. Still a klutz in a car and on the tennis court, I'm afraid.

I have quite respectable astigmatism and really over-the-top myopia. If they didn't ave compressed lenses, I would have the stereotypical coke-bottle-bottom glasses. I wear gas permeable contact lenses which correct me to 20/20 (with old fashioned hard lenses, they used to be able to correct me to 20/15). My astigmatism has worsened so that they cannot correct for it entirely anymore - not in glasses or contacts. i just live with it, altough I have always been able to see in 3D.

And I am absolutely not a candidate for Lasik surgery - my corneas are abnormally flat and they cannot do it to flat corneas. Besides, I am exceptionally creepy about my eyes - they practically have to chase me around the chair just to get the lens machine up to my eyes. One of my big creeped-out fears is that I will have to have an eye operation - I don't think there are enough tranquilizers to enable me to let them do that while I am awake.

LOL! HL - I have been told I am not a candidate for Laser surgery because I have a "rolling astagmus" (sp.) which means that I can't keep my eyes stil. Blind as a BAT is what I am. Astigmatism, estravism/a lazy eye, myopia and a total lack of visual recognition abilities. I usually need repeats when dealing with "captcha" on web sites. At the eye doctor's I can USUALLY (not always) read up to the third line.

    Love Blue's green dog Barb.

I have not such good eyes either.  Seems like I got a lazy eye ??? as a young 8 yr. old with Rheumatic Fever, but that wasn't found for so long that not much could be done.  Then later when my thyroid ( extremely hyper and un-diagnosed for 7 yrs. ) was finally found and fixed -- on my way to dying by that time, every three or four months my eyes 'changed.  I kept a pr. of dimestore reading glasses and would wear two pr. till  I could get back to the eye Dr. and get a new lense prescription.  What a pain............only slight changes the last few years.  Always laugh at the fact I am always given a case for my glasses when I leave.......because I never use it.  My glasses are by my bed at night..........if not there in the morning, I think with my "bad" eyes, I just woudn't bother getting up.

Never tried contacts.....the thought of sticking my fingers in my eyes every day just got to me and I'm the type that when I see an eyedrop coming at my face it looks like a boulder to me and I squint so tight nothing could get in my eye.

Warm and foggy out this a.m.  It is a Calif. tulie fog ---- low-lying to the ground and is usually higher here but not today.

Here's something my friend sent me that I thought you might like too:

When I was ready to pay for my groceries, the cashier said, "Strip
    down, facing me."

Making a mental note to complain to my congressman about Homeland
Security running amok, I did just as she had instructed.

When the hysterical screaming and store alarms finally subsided, I
found out that she was referring to my credit card.

I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future.

They need to make their instructions to us seniors a little louder and
    clearer!
