Northern New Jersey gals!
Hello, I live in Clifton and was wondering if any of you ladies that live in the Northern NJ area or NJ period (that's willing to travel) would like to meet up for dinner and chat the night away. I remember the feeling that I got after I attended a support group meeting - I was so empowered just because I was in a room sitting and talking with ladies going through or went through the same things as me. Well I'm not trying to organize a support group or anything (it could be!), just dinner and a good time with fellow BC sisters Any ideas, restaurants...?

Hi there -- I work in Clifton. I haven't attended a support group (yet) and would love to meet some people face-to-face who are going through this -- maybe dinner one evening after work?
-
citykitty, thanks for responding! I hope more NJ gals will chime in and we could all meet
-
Hello Jersey gals... count me in!
Maybe meet in Montclair -Cuban Petes's or Egan & Sons - so many places
-
Dee, I've been to Cuban Pete's and they are good! Where is Egan & Sons? Looking forward to meeting you and citykitty!
-
Egan's is on Walnut Street, loud but comfy and good
Yes connecting with BC sista's is inspiring, we learn from eachother... not to mention we just simply understand.
Let's keep in touch and get together soon:)

Should we set a date? Maybe around Jan 26 or 27?
-
Hi,
I wish I could make it. Monclair is only a 1/2 hour from me. I'll keep watching, maybe in the spring - would love to meet.
-
I am down by Princeton, but have travelled to Livingston for my Wig shop, and have family in Montclair... If the date works, I would be interested.

Oops sorry ladies, Taxol SE has been keeping me busy. I don't know if the date works since it is this week already but I am okay with meeting you ladies in Montclair. It would be lovely! Should we pick a date a month out so that we can plan in advance?
-
Hi
Jan 26 or 27 or in February would be good for me.
Having Recon surgery March 2 - so I'll be in a recliner in recovery mode for quite a while
-
Letlet, I agree, a date a month or so out would be better. I didn't realize how quickly this week came -- and is almost gone! Let's do it before Dee's surgery (which BTW is also my big 5-0 b-day!). How about Wed., Feb 23, 6 p.m. at Egan's? Does that day and time work for you all?
Letlet, you're doing Taxol, too? How are your SEs? Looking forward to chatting with you! I'm going tomorrow for #4 of my 12 weekly Taxol + Herceptin treatments. My hair started falling out on day 15. I guess I'll probably have lost most of it by the time we meet!
-
Hello,
I'm in Scotch Plains, would love to join you. I'm doing TCx4 right now, so I'll have to check the schedule for the 23rd. My son goes to school in Verona, so I'm familiar with the area. A night out sounds good, I'll be bald by then too!
-
Hi ScienceGirl! I recognize you from the Jan '11 chemo thread! Looking forward to meeting you!
-
Oh, and bdavis, you, too!
-
Feb 23, 6pm at Egan's sounds great to me! Hope everyone else can make it....no hair for me either!
Ladies, a wonderful lady on this board PM'd me and asked if she can join us as well. While she doesn't have BC, her daughter does and is in treatment and lives far away. Being with us can help her see what her daughter may be going through (physically and emotionally, I think). I have no objections and think its great that she is thinking along these lines. Is this okay with you all?
-
Just wondering about the "loud" part about Egans...will we all be able to talk without yelling?
-
I will check my calendar... and will also be bald by then. Montclair is an hour away, so I will try, but with rush hour it could be more like 1.5 hours.
No objections for the non-BC mom to join... sounds like it could be great for her... I know my mom would benefit, who is also far away from me... its hard on the parents as well as the kids.
-
Hi Jersey gals,
Feb 23 is good for me. We can sit at tables in back at Egan's -not as loud as bar area. They don't take reservations. next door is Halcyon Seafood Brasserie which is more expensive but as "back-up" if anything.
citykity I will always remember your BD!
No objections for anyone who would like to join us.
Bdavis - try to leave early
Maybe a few days before we should Private Message eachother with our names and to know who is definately coming - I look forward to meeting you all at Egan & Sons,
address: 118 Walnut Street, Montclair

I'm looking forward to meeting you all in person. Please tell the "Mom" that we'd love her to come. I'm sure it's hard for her to be far from her daughter.
I'll be getting chemo that day, but usually I'm feeling OK that evening so I'm going to try to make it.
Betsy, should we move it to 6:30, would that be easier for you? Others?
PS - I'm Kim
-
I just checked out the menu at Egan's...yummy! I have to be honest, I just bragged to my hubby that I have a dinner date. So happy since my life these days have revolved around chemo and prescription meds. Looking forward to dinner with you gals.
Carla/cittykitty, my SE from Taxol are bone pain and numbness/sensitivity on the tips of my fingers and toes. I am getting it dose dense though (every two weeks) so you may not have them. My onc suggested doing it weekly if it was too much for me but I declined.
-
Of course the BC mom is welcome! You know that's what we'll all be calling her now -- "mom" -- hee hee! I talked to my mom yesterday (she lives way down South on the Gulf Coast). She was so happy to hear me sounding good the same day I had chemo. So I'm sure our BC Mom will benefit from joining us -- and vice versa, no doubt!
Letlet, thx for the info on your tx. Interesting, isn't it, how even the same tx can be administered differently and have different SEs.
Betsy, Kim -- I sure hope you can make it!
Dee, great idea about the PMs in advance. I wonder if we can PM multiple people at once? I haven't had a chance to check that out yet. -
6:00pm is fine.. I just need to get closer and see what's up with the rest of my calendar... son... husband... but 6 or 6:30 is all the same to me. I get off work at 4:15 in Princeton.
-
bdavis...I really appreciate you driving the distance!
-
no... my pleasure... we'll see if it works out for me.
BETSY
-
It's just a couple of days till the 23rd...who is definitely coming to our get together?
-
Sorry ladies... I was promoted a couple of weeks ago (from part time to full time) and my schedule has gotten much more complicated... Sooo.. unfortunately, I will not be able to make it...
Have FUN!

Congrats Betsy!

Hi Ladies,
I m having my delayed diep reconstruction March 2nd & and have so many appointments this week and it's my busiest work time - I am frazzled and can't fit everything in.
Please let's keep in touch and would love to meet when I am healed with my foobs.
Best,
Dee
-
Dee, sorry you can't make it. Hope everything goes well with your DIEP.
