Another Q! 1st Aunt Flo/period arrived since Jan on 12/23 (m)

I am 41 now, had my last period 1/2010 first start of chemo.  It just returned for the first time on 12/23 and I still have it.  Normally, my periods were only five days or less.  I can't believe it came back to begin with but I had a feeling because my hot flashes have been subsiding over the last few weeks.  Will they be normal now?  Is the first one always longer and heavier?  Thanks!
