I had Rad # 4 today. I got a rx for the LE clinic at the Rads hospital because I have never had the evaluation. My Ins didnt cover phys therapy at my Chemo hospital.
Barb A I will use the EMU oil right now. I did notice my boob is pink. Do you know if it has to be refridgerated all the time?
Sunangel, everyone, this is a difficult thursday for you, I will keep us all in prayer for healing and good results.
Ginger
er.... the oil not the boob.

suepen--woohoo
Well with all my whinning, after taking the pains pills for 24 hours I finally have the pain under control so I am not about in tears any more. I also have been put neosporin on my nipple/areola constantly and the half that is not getting radiated is looking better this morning. The other half oh well that is what the pain pills are for. I just don't want to take a break, I want to finish. I am going out of town this weekend to see old friends so I am going to have an early celebration being that I will finish on Monday
-
Sounds as if we are all looking forward to the weekend and a break from rads.
Sherry, I am so sorry you are going through so much pain, we are all cheering you on towards the finish line and hoping you get some much needed relief soon.
Lestwin and Sunangel, I hope you both get some answers soon and everything works out for you. Mjbmiller, I like your new pic too!
Heathermcd, I hope someone can help you on your TE question.
I've done #14, a bit more redness today. It's a bit itchy and a bit more red in some places than others but not too bad so far.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I used the EMU oil. It only takes a couple drops, it spreads readily. I am pink on day 4, just a generalized light pink. I do promise to Barb A that I will regularly put EMU oil on my boob and I suppose under my arm. I also thank her for taking the time out from her precruise celebrating to speak sternly to me about oil application on the boob in question! I hope she has a bang up, smashin, glorius cruising vacation!

Sue - Congrats on finishing the first week - you are gonna sail through and it will be over before you know it.
Sherry - Enjoy the weekend and we all are getting ready to do a HUGE happy dance to get the party started on Monday.
-
I'm praying for all of you in pain! Hang in there. You are stronger than you know and have all of my respect.
For all of the new ladies - don't forget that the treatment usually goes all the way up to to the collar bone and may or may not include your armpit. So lube all over!
It is been a real "boost" to my spirits and coping abilities to check in with all of you and experience this together. It's been great to have a place to whine, complain, ask questions, and just put the mind at ease.
This afternoon is my last treatment. I have no idea how to return to normal though.
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
-
cincilady - Whoo hooo for your last treatment!!!
-
#10 today---Like cincilady said and the tech reminded me this week, make sure to put cream up to collar bone. She said into a square pattern all over the breast. Today, I can feel a little ache now--my skin seems to be holding up but there is a definite ache in my armpit/axilla area.
-
Sounds like we share similar stats. I just finished day 15 of accelerated whole breast rad. Seems like most girls are still doing the longer course.? I will only be doing 19 days including 2 days of boost (Canadian method?) Starting to get red and irritated, nipple is really tender and lymph node biopsy incision site is swelling. Glad you"re finishing up. What is your ht going to be? Looks like I'll be on Femara.
-
#9 today (missed one due to server problems). Skin is ok, breast and underarm are a little tender inside, also now and then little hurting pain.
-
cincilady - Congrats on finishing rads
-
Lestwin - I asked the same thing about the deodorant. It's ok to use it on the side you are not having treatment.
I've had 5 boosts and three "regular" treatments now, and I have developed a really itchy rash in my cleavage. Barely slept last night because of the itch. Bought some hydrocort this morning after treatment, and now am trying to air it out. The itch is crazy, BUT.... it's just a minor thing in this battle, right?
-
I'm done! Session #33, boost #5 was over at 8:20 this morning. Doing the happy dance and packing for Florida for the weekend to escape the -17F we woke up to here in Minnesota this morning.
Continued prayers and good wishes for all itches to cease, blisters to heal, rashes to abate, redness to lighten and pain to disappear for each and every one of you!
For those near the beginning, if it helps - I finished all 33 with no skin issues beyond a really bad sunburn effect (and I'm a Norwegian blonde, so very fair) and with no fatigue to speak of at all. I say this feeling bad for those whose roads I know have been much tougher, but because I want to provide hope in knowing that it can be a very manageable road, too. In either case, the road is better traveled with friends, and the end does come. Hang in there!!

Nicely said Julie_dee and Congratulations!!! Have a great trip.
-
Lestwin-I had a horrible itch around Christmas and I could not sleep. Hydrocort and benadryl cream did not work for me. It was over the HOlidays and I used a prescription steriod lotion I had for poisin Ivy. It took care of it even though my RO was not thrilled with my choice but under the circumstances it was the Holidays and unable to get ahold of anyone. AFterward they gave me a script for Kenalog and that worked pretty well. Jo on this thread used a script Topocort that worked well for her. If the OTC does not work push them for a script of some kind. It is not worth itching over. Good Luck

Congrats, Julie_Dee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATS JULIE DEE---DOING THE HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Half way done, #15. The fatigue has hit me now, by the time I get home after work I want to take a nap. Weekend here I come.
-
Thanks for all your advise. I was so p'od yesterday with everything but today I am calmer. I have to take this one day at a time. I seem to get upset over even the tiny things and yell at my DH. Had lunch with my daughter today (always makes me happy) she's coming up with her 43rd b/d next week and shows her concern in positive ways. I was not supposed to do anything (because I got my markings and they can't put anything over them because I am so allergic) and they don't want me to sweat or shower for maybe 10 days. Fortunately, it is overcast today, not in the high 70's like recently, so I am not sweating. Thank goodness it's winter, well sort of. I used a washcloth to bathe this morning and I noticed that at the back of my arm, by the shoulder, it was completely numb. My incision is about three inches and almost under my arm, near the top of my left breast. Is it normal to have no feeling after 2 months? I know they took 21 nodes (all clear) which I am annoyed about (taking so many) and will tell him on Monday, I think this is causing my breast underside and my arm to have the LE symptoms. I will definitely ask for a script if and when I start rads for the itching like some of you suggested as I usually end up scratching myself to death and with the ET I have it causes bloody lines where I scratch. I think I have gained enough knowledge now from you guys to stand up and say enough is enough when I think I am being put off. (Like telling my rad onc. that I had symptoms of LE and not really getting a response). I had a neighbour tell me where a good LE therapist was locally so if my surgeon doesn't do anything I will contact them myself and get evaluated. Hope everyone has a great weekend and for those of you in pain I hope things get better and for those who have finished CONGRATS.
-
lestwin - I had my lumpectomy and sentinel nodes removed in July and the back of my arm is still numb, as is the breast along the incision so I think the numbness is pretty normal.
-
Congratualtions to those who have finished!!!
Sherry - only 1 to go!!! You can do it.
I forgot to mention that I have no redness at all except for the area I got sunburn last weekend. In fact my left boob looks darker then the one being zapped. I'm still doing Aloe when I get home and MooGoo several times during the day. I'll only get 4 next week as we have a holiday for Australia Day.
Have a great zap free weekend girls!!

Suepen,
I have two radation treatments left and have completed 31 . I was the 1st patient to trial a new cream called MIADERM.. and everyone at the cancer center is in awe of how well my skin looks. No burn at all and just a slight red/tan look to my skin if that.. I put it on immediately after the treatment in the dressing room( i think this is important) apply 4 times a day total and not within 2 hours of my treatment. I used no soap/deodorant at all to my skin. Ha, I actually didn't smell!! I'm taking Biotin a supplement for hair, skin and nails which may have helped?? I cross bridges when I get to them and I think that has really helped.. I have been blessed as I have felt no side effects from radiation!!
Good Luck with you 2nd round of radiation and great news you don't need chemo!
