Taxotere is a nightmare

Hope this works out for you Tracie. You deserve some good karma.

I love what lago said! If we survived chemo we can certainly fight a stupid insurance company. Thoughts and hugs and anything else I can offer to you!

Reading your posts about weight. I ended up losing about 30 pounds...which is really ok...would like to keep it off, get some energy, and exercise to regain some muscle strength. I am worried about LD so will start exercising with a PT that specializes in avoiding lympodema.....sounds like a way for me to get started and to regain some confidence. Sure would love some energy...8 chemo's really took it out of me....finished Dec 28 but find I still need a nap in the afternoons...but at least they aren't the pass out naps of old. Hoping we all can find a new normal we can live with and not feel like a 'sick' person.

Tracie fight them! I will pray for you God knows we did not lie, who hides for yrs or months and waits for cancer to grow just so you can get ins honestly, at least for me as soon as I found out I wanted to start everything right there one day waiting felt and eternity, maybe this ppl should go through this experience and then have their insurance denie them see what it's like! I don't mean to wish them harm but they need to learn what it feels....is stressful and frustrating having to go through this and then we need to deal with stupid ins!! When they sell it first thing they say " is for your peace of mind" HA yeah right!! Fight back Tracie!

Tracie - I was talking to the American Cancer Society peep to schedule a Look Good, Feel Better thing and the guy I was talking to was telling me that they are all certified folks and if I ever needed any help, etc... and I said I had read of your situation online and he gave me these two resources for you:
the Patient Advocate Foundation, www.patientadvocate.org - they solve healthcare and insurance problems for patients, toll free phone number is 1-800-532-5274
also, Cancer Legal Resource Center (Loyola Law School) www.disabilityrightslegalcenter.org, toll feee phone number 1-800-843-2572
The first site seems more user friendly and specific. The ACS also has a health insurance information center that you can contact with their own site.
-
I used the Patient Advocate Foundation before and they do go out of their way to help us.

Thinking of you all tonight and hoping you have a good night's sleep. That seems to be one of the most precious commodities we have, more precious than gold! I have been doing mindfulness-based meditation on compassion, and I am holding you all in loving kindness in my thoughts tonight. And now I am off with my ambien for some much-deserved rest. :)zzzzzz

Good morning ladies. Nora, I hope the last round is done, that you bounce back from it quickly. What is next for you?
Today is supposed to be warm and sunny, and I am going to address that mess of tangled foliage, wire supports, and twine that was my garden last fall. It got sort of neglected as I started the BC path in August, but I promised myself to enjoy it more this year!
May you all have a peaceful weekend.
-
N3ypb - I wish I could come and help you with your gardening.
-
Hi Ladies, I am feeling really good this weekend... heading out to clean the garage and tomorrow we are heading to a cabin in Austin for a few days. I have not been away from this house since June of last year.
A quick update I am appealing all the claims sent by BCBS. We will see what happens, but for the next 5 days I am putting it behind me so I can enjoy myself. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
-
Tracie - enjoy the cabin...the fresh air, the views, the company!
Annie

Thanks for keeping us posted Tracie. I'm sure you will have to appeal several times. Some insurance companies automatically reject the appeals trying to wear you out. I think I saw something on 60 minutes about this years ago.
Enjoy your weekend.

HI Nora,
Congratulations on finishing chemo. I'm right behind you...I get my last Taxotere on Wednesday. Then I get exactly 3 weeks to get ready for my BLMX followed by immediate reconstruction. It all makes my head spin.
Take care,
Nancy

Thanks for your well wishes everyone. I am feeling quite well today (the morning after) just a bit tired but I know it all starts to hit this evening into tomorrow. At least I know this is it so I feel so good about that! I go in for my nuelasta shot at 4pm today
Talked to my onc about possibly getting a hysterectomy soon to keep me in menopause and since I will be going on Tamoxifen very soon. They will test my blood in 3 weeks to see my hormone levels I guess that will tell them what's going on? I had a procedure done 8 years ago and they found polyps in my uterus which they took out. I am just thinking I don't want any issues there either!
Have a good trip to the cabin, Tracie. I do think you need some much needed R&R and to try to forget all this stuff you are going through. You dont need the stress!
-
Tracie - Hope you have a wonderful time and can just leave all the crap behind for awhile!
-
N3yp,
I was able to spend several hours in my flower beds today. It was really windy, but not too bad. I love gardening, and it felt good to rake, shovel, and pull weeds! I'm sure my back will give me the business tomorrow....
But it was so worth it. Something about having my hands in the dirt makes me feel.......good.

Had my first taxotere treatment Thursday and saw my first Ruby throated hummingbird of the season today.
