Yikes!  Could this be one reason for so much cancer these days?   Deanna

That is really frightening. Though my city in TX doesn't make it on the list, it does concern me for all the toxins that we might not know about in our drinking water.

Yes I read that this morning. I live in one of those cities. The only time I drink tap water is when I fill my water bottle up for the gym… guess I won't be doing that anymore.

DH found a more complete article than the one I posted above.  Evidently, this outcome was for 31 out of 34 cities -- 91%!  And it includes cities like Scottsdale, Portland and several others I think of as having a well-educated and environmentally concerned population!   Riverside County, CA, where I live, was also on the list.

I haven't delved any deeper yet, but one of my first thoughts was... I wonder if the study was done by those interested in promoting sales of bottled water, which I think must be down due to more awareness re. the health dangers of plastic bottles.  It's a shame you just can't take any headline at face value anymore.  But if this one is legit, it's outrageous!     Deanna

I live where water from the tap on a good day smells like a swimming pool.  Two years ago, routine water tests came up with e coli and twice that summer we were being told to boil our water before drinking it.  Then we had a severe drought in 09, and I felt like the water was literally making me ill.  I've used a brita filter for years, but just rinsing at the bathroom sink left a taste of mud in my mouth.  blech!

That's when I started buying water at the kiosk.  I have friends who drink wine from a gallon jug, and I've been collecting their empties so I can drink from glass and not plastic.  Truly, I believe this is a big part of why I finally am feeling better after YEARS of feeling like crap.  It seems like I'm always finding more reasons to feel glad I'm drinking filtered water from glass.

I live in New Haven, Connecticut: a city listed in this study. I am INFURIATED at our national ignorance of environmental causes of disease!

I use a BRITA, but am now not sure it filters enough pollutants? I've always wanted a filter on the whole plumbing system, but hubby resisted. I think I should print out the study and show him...perhaps a belated Christmas gift for his cancer survivor!

    Thanks for posting, Deanna.
