I had a lumpectomy for IDC in September 2009.  I ended radiation treatment in February 2010.  My breast is extremely tender to the point I can't sleep o that side and even brushing up against it hurts.  If I hold my grandchild or bump it I am in extreme pain.   Is this normal?

It took me about 2 1/2 years before I could sleep on that side, and my boob is still 'achy' almost 4 years later; so, yes I would say it's normal Frown!

    Liza:

I have the same thing going on.  I had a large lumpectomy and then a re-excision in April of 2009 and on some days my breast is extremely painful.  I still cannot sleep on my stomach at all.  Both my onc and BS said a lot of women go through this and are never without some pain in the treated breast.  I have my mammos every 6 months (and US) and since I am triple negative, BS likes to do a breast MRI once a year and they have all been fine.  I don't know why some have no pain whatsoever, but I know I'm sure not one of them!  It used to worry me, but doesn't any longer - it's more annoying than anything else.  Now I just have to be peeled off the wall with every other little ache or pain I have, but not the breast pain!!

Edited to add:  I also have 23 (!!) of those little clips left in the breast too - duh!  And I wonder why I hurt????
