6 Month Mammo ADH! Ruining my holidays!

Hi to everyone!

I am on 6 months mammo schedule due to ADH.  It is so very stressful as you all know to well.  My app't is in January and I am already obsessing.  I dread it with every fiber of my being!

My initial results which lead to this close monitoring was MICROFOCUS of ADH.  I am wondering if anyone else had this diagnosis and if so what is there survelliance like? Anyone know what a microfocus is?

Trying to concentrate on being in the moment for the holidays but it is hard.....

Thanks in advance!

I hated going through this during the holidays!  (My biopsy showing LCIS was in early Dec, and I had to wait 1.5 months for my excision 'to verify the diagnosis'.)

I have  classic LCIS, ALH, ductal hyperplasia, and nothing worse.  I started out getting mammos and/or ultrasounds every 3 months x 2, then every 6 months x2.  These were due to 6 month followups for benign biopsies.  I opted to go on tamoxifen 6 months after my LCIS diagnosis.

I had 2 more benign biopsies 1 year after my LCIS diagnosis. For the last 3 years, my surveillance has been twice-a-year clinical exams, and yearly mammograms.  This (or maybe even once-a-year exams?)  is what the NCCN guidelines are for LCIS.   http://nccn.com/patient-guidelines.html  Most other LCIS women get monitored more intensely.

So your monitoring may decrease in the future when you have more stable imaging and your breasts 'calm down'.   Its awful though, in the meantime.

I know exactly how you are feeling.  I am in the same boat but my follow-up is tomorrow.  I was diagnosed with ADH in June of this year.  I am really worried and dreading this appt. tomorrow too.  I am just hoping that it will come out clean and it won't ruin my holidays.  I posted about this exact same thing last night.

I can't remember exactly what my report read but it was atypia ductal hyperplasia.

I am only 2 months post diagnosis of ADH (multifocal) and I am already dreading my 6 mo follow up ;) I wish I had some great advice. Just concentrate on family and all the things around you that make you smile. My happy place is my 3 kids( well most of the time :)  Anyway, I have found there is a lot of helpful support here. Wishing you a very merry Christmas and nothing but good news in January!!
