Hello everyone - from a husband

My apologies if this is the wrong place to stand up and say "hi."  I won't be offended if this get's moved elsewhere.

I'm the husband of a great lady that's recently been diagnosed with BC.  It was caught early enough that it doesn't appear based on PET and other tests to have spread though it's stage II and the single lump is ~3cm.

She's had her second round of chemo and when the coming six are done will have a lumpectomy and then rad.

She's taking this as well as anyone and even joked as I cut her hair off last week.

I hope you'll excuse the plethora of questions I'll be firing off soon.

Before then.  Hello, my name is Michael and my wife has breast cancer.

    Hello Michael and welcome.

This is the BEST resource for anyone touched by BC!  I can't say enough as to how much these ladies helped me through my first year. I would encourage your wife to join as well so she can ask questions or perhaps share things she may want to get a woman's perspective from.

I think it's just fabulous that you are here though, and I for one would be happy to answer ANY (trust me, I've asked it all) and all questions you and your wife may have.

    (((HUGS))) to you both,

    Sharon

FYI, You are limited on how many posts you can initially post here for a short while so don't freak out if you can't post a lot right off the bat...............

Hello Michael:  Welcome to BC forum.  You are a very caring husband and it souds like you are totally involved in your wife's journey ~ that is wonderful!

I'm not a veteran but a BC survivor of only 3 months. My suggestion is to check out the different topics on this site - they may have many of the answers you are looking for and also, you wife may want to check out the site ~ I know being on here has helped tremendously with support!!

I'm sure there will be others along with alot more experience than me with advice and suggestions.

    But Welcome and ask away!!!

    Hi Michael,

My wife was diagnosed with BC a little over 2 years ago.  She had a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction, 6 rounds of FEC-D chemo and then rads.  Her BC was ER/ PR positive, so she is doing tamoxifen right now and is also part of a clinical trial for bisphosphonates.  This is a great place to learn and share.  Welcome.

Michael, welcome...there isn't a question you can't ask here. It is a wealth of information from thousands of women who are in this battle together. Your support is the greatest gift you can give your wife. None of us had any training for this, but the determination of the human spirit is amazing. God bless.

Hi Michael,  I know you will get all your questions answered and the support you need here.  Great group on ppl on this board!  I must admit every time I see a man log-in here in order to help their wife tears run down my face.  I know there are alot of supportive men/husbands out there...but so many just aren't their for their wife once dx with bc.  (It's so sad)  Support is so important.  But it brightens my day when stand up guys like you show up.  What a VERY lucky and blessed wife you have and I'm sure she knows it. :)

Your wife is going to do fine...good medical team and a fantastic husband...she can't lose.  We are here to help in anyway we can.

Thank you again everyone.  Sorry for the late reply, it's been a crazy work week and at the end of the day I want to concentrate on wifey.

Rather than start up new threads on neutropenia, low-cal high-protein diets, ways to increase energy levels during the low week after chemo, can you point me to some good threads to review? A search turns up so much information that it's hard to know where to start.

I've got loads of information from doctors, cancer society and so on and there's plenty of somewhat conflicting information in various areas.

Hi Michael--my husband just asked if there was any place for him and I can't wait to tell him you guys (and girls) are here. I always think I am lucky to have his unfailing support and I know he would love to have your company to share his day to day issues. you'll be hearing from him. thanks
