I finished Taxol 4 weeks ago and am on my 10th rad treatment. It seems ever since I started Rads I am freezing all the time.I live in NY and it is cold but i have never been so unbearably cold. Has anyone else had this happen?

You might want to get your thyroid levels checked. I've always had thyroid disease and frozen at the sight of anything remotely chilly, but many women find that their thyroid is out of whack after chemo. If that's the case with you, your doctor can prescribe meds to even you out.

And bundle up...this too shall pass!

I developed the "freezing all of the time" after my bi-lateral breast removal.

    Trauma to the body?

Same.  (Thyroid is fine...but it is probably worth checking).

My back always feels clamy and cold. I wear hats even in California because my neck and head are freezing! I can't imagine NY weather! I have a soft knit scarf that helps, but basically if my feet get cold forget it. That is the chemo affects, cold feet and hands.

I would imagine all the body functions are haywire right now because of the trauma. This reminds me of Fibromyalgia where all the body functions go nuts and under and over produce, the system goes amuck. Typical hot and cold fluctuations with FMS also. One of the body dysfunctions.

Yes - I feel cold this winter; finished chemo in mid November. I'm already hypothyroid but I didn't feel this cold last winter. And we're having a very warm winter in Denver.

It could be your thyroid - from either the chemo or the rads. My medical oncologist said my thyroid function would fluctuate during and for up to 3 months after chemo.

I haven't started rads yet (next week), so I don't know if that will make me colder still. The radiation oncologist said I would have a small amount of thyroid damage and that I would need to have my thyroid meds adjusted after rads. I think this is because I'm having supraclavicular node radiation in addition to breast and underarm rads.

Chemo threw me in the deep freeze.  It probably took a year to get back to a more normal body temp. NJ
