Probably this is posted elsewhere here because it's not new news.

Inflammation.

Also, Google to learn which foods you eat that create inflammation in the body....such as white potatoes and egg plant.

Best wishes to all as always

Aspirin is derived from willow bark and is a natural antifungal. Since I believe cancer to be fungal related, that article makes so much sense to me.

Eggplant causes inflammation? I can see the potatoes but eggplant? I tried to Google but got many different answers.

The whole story is about food allergies and there is much to read on this...the arthritis foundation as been onto this type of study for awhile now.

    I know....breaks my heart too.

A friend shared this information with me when I was first dealing with Arimidex SE.  She is a breast cancer survivor as well she has lupus.  Now if you want some inspiration...she is retired from FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN).  She lives in South Africa in the winter and here in the summer.  When she is here, she swims the lake every day.  I don't mean paddles and splashes around...I mean swims!  ... and walks the at least 2K every day.  I can't match her resolve but I enjoy her company very much.

Best wishes to all as always,

Thanks, Marilyn - so based on that article, at least, eggplant only has an inflammation effect if you're allergic to it. I've never experienced any of those symptoms after eating eggplant, so it sounds like I'm probably not allergic.

    Thanks for the link!

Whew! I'm not allergic either. Does anyone know?....Is eggplant in the same food catagory as squash. They are somewhat of a starch, like potato. though not as high on the glycemic index? (correct me if I'm wrong ladies)

They are part of the nightshade family (tomatoes, potatoes, sweet peppers)

Things more related to squash would be things like pumpkins and other gourds, cucumbers, melons, etc....

(Marie, who works on the family farm which includes the above mentioned crops)

I was aware of the cancer connection with aspirin about 6 years ago. I was diagnosed with Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia...and told that "those abnormal cells would eventually develop into cancer." I knew that aspirin had been taken by the elderly for many decades to prevent heart disease and stroke...and that research showed that it could also prevent cancer. Soooo...I took baby doses daily (sometimes every other day) as a preventative, religiously for five years.  And guess what? I actually developed cancer. I really thought that I would somehow be protected while taking aspirin. But all it did was make my blood ridiculously thin. By biopsy was a bloody mess to say the least. And even though I had stopped before surgery...I had excessive bleeding due to complications with anaesthetic. Every time I vomited or sneezed my cancer bed would burst open. The nurses were by my bedside throughout the night...cleaning me and trying to keep my stitches intact. I bled through my bandages and right through my nighty and night gown several times. Dear me, you'd think I consumed boxes of the stuff daily.

    Aspirin worked against me.Frown
