lung nodules

Options

Hi everyone,

Sorry that it has taken me so long to get back to everyone.  I posted on Nov. 1 about lung nodules that my oncologist (breast cancer dx in March 2009) has been monitoring for the last year.  On Nov. 19, I had a needle biopsy done on my left lung.  My onc. wants me to have an open biopsy now because the needle biopsy showed atypical cells (suspicious, but can't say yet if cancer).  He doesnt feel comfortable waiting and watching anymore.  He says something is going on and we need to find out what it is.  Anyone out there have lung nodules and what was your diagnosis?  Have you had an open lung biopsy and how long were you in the hospital.

Precious1969- Im very sorry you are dealing with this right now especially after dealing with BC- I had both lung biopsy and open lung biopsy about  8 years ago, the first was a lung bippsy where they went thru my back and did the biopsy that way while i was sorta sedated but not enough to where i didnt know what was going on, the second time i had the open biopsy and they put you completley out (much better this way) You wont feel anything or remember anything. You will have a few stiitches they may or not not keep you for a couple of days. You will have pain meds to keep you comfortable.I did end up having lung cancer i had my left lung particailly removed with surgery. But i know of lots of people that ended up having either scar tissure or an infection this dosnt always mean it will be lung cancer and i hope that will be the case for you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. If you have any more questions i will be happy to help you. Please keep us posted, will be thinking B9 results for you

    Warm hugs.

lung nodule here but it's just assumed to be from infection or something else.  It hasn't changed in size so for me, not worth worrying about.  Ihope you have good news like that.
