    I'm confused.

"The isoflavone glycetein showed the most relationships with breast tumor characteristics. In the highest versus lowest third, glycetein was associated with an approximately 25 percent decreased odds of having cancer, 60 percent decreased odds of having a grade1 tumor and 30 percent decreased odds of having a HER2 negative tumor. "

    - "an approximately 25 percent decreased odds of having cancer"  Great!  That's the news we are looking for.

    - "60 percent decreased odds of having a grade1 tumor "  Huh?  Does that mean that those who had tumors were more likely to have grade 2 or grade 3 tumors?

    - "30 percent decreased odds of having a HER2 negative tumor"  Huh? again.  So those with tumors were more likely to have HER2 positive tumors?

    What am I missing here?

Oh, and note the two comments at the end of the article:

First:  "Overall, this study indicates that isoflavone intake may be associated with tumor characteristics with more favorable prognoses," Weaver reiterates. "However, our sample had low isoflavone intake compared to, for example, an Asian population. Most isoflavone intake was from other foods, so we can't comment specifically on soy."  This would mean that the title of the article, suggesting that soy isoflavones decrease the risk of invasive breast cancer, is wrong.... Correct?

And then:  "The results were not conclusive, Weaver notes, so further studies need to be done to determine the mechanisms by which isoflavones may affect tumor characteristics."  I think this means that the results really don't indicate anything.

I guess they did this big study and spent time and money on it so they figured that they needed to report something.
