Worried about Bone Mets
HI all,
I already posted on the Stage III board, but thought I'd get input from anyone else out here. I've been having a weird feeling under my right rib cage that now has spread over to the left side in the abdominal area. My lower right rib cage is now very sore, so much that it's hard to sleep on that side. I've had 2 clinical exams in the last several weeks as well as blood work that was all in the normal range. But I am STILL in pain and am starting to freak out that it's mets.
Anyone have any idea how mets in either the ribs or abdomen would present themselves? My onc's RN said to watch it for a week (has gotten progressively worse over the last 3-4 weeks) and then call her, but I think I am going to push for some sort of scan on Monday.
Blah, this sucks.
Thanks ladies,
Sharon

Any pain that has lasted 2 weeks or more and/or is severe should warrant at least an xray. I would push for a scan also. I have mets to the spine in the 5th lumbar. They didnt hesitate to xray and then do ct and MRI. Mine did show on a xray but the docs said it did only because it was so large. I hope its nothing at all. Hugs, Mazy

Thanks Mazy,
I'm calling the Onc tomorrow to have it checked out.

Sharon, please take this in the vein that it is given in - compassionately.
Is there ANY chance you are constipated? The left side is usually the first that feels the pain. It is serious if it gets that painful and must be checked out as well.
I'll be praying that you're just full of it.

I'm so worried ... I had a bunch of pre-chemo tests on Mon. Today the onc called and said that 2 tests were conflicting ... the bone scan was clear, but the CT scan showed something in the spine just above my waist. She ordered an MRI which will be don on 12/15. I'm so scared ... which is more reliable - the bone scan or the CT? I am stage IIIc, Grade 2, 2.5 cm, ER+ PR+, Her2- 12/25 nodes

Diane, that is so scary. I think the CT is more accurate--but there could be a variety of benign conditions showing up. I hope the MRI confirms it's nothing.

Thanks Jenny!
I'm new to these boards, but have been lurking and noticed all the compassion and support from everyone. Deep down, I was thinking the CT was more accurate, but I was hoping the opposite. I read in some of the discussions that it could sometimes be arthritis, so I'm pinning my hopes on that as I wait a week for the MRI.
