soulswithin - sorry for your loss and for all the difficult things you had to go through. Hope this year picks up for you soon!

soulswithin-so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. Mine died when I was younger but I still miss him terribly. Hope you have been able to heal up from rads and get over this cold thing you have.

Spark- my skin was peeling and raw for two weeks after rads..but I kept it well lubricated with Eucerin Calming cream and for one of the two weeks, I used cortisone as well. I am still tanned on that side but the peeling and pain and raw feeling was gone within two weeks...find a cotton camisole so the skin under the arm ( the most tender) is not rubed too much....it will soon be done:)

Soulswithin- Losing a parent is difficult regardless of age. I have gone through it twice and it leaves you breathless. That you have to deal with BC and your mom's pain on top of your own loss....not fair at all. Take care of you, hmm? Go gently and remember to let the tears out....
I think every doc , radiologist, oncologist , technician etc. says different things because their experiences and those of their patients is different..even the creams they are telling us to use are different....but I guess the key is, if it works and is gentle with you...then go for it.

HI ladies,
Just dropping in to say hello.
Soulswithin - so sorry about your dad. Sure doesn't seem right that you'd have to deal with all of this at once. I agree with what Sandee said - regardless of age or time of life, losing parents is difficult. Both mine are gone (dad when I was a teen, mom just 10 years ago), as well as one brother (the sweetest of the 3), and when I'm really in a funk I feel like an orphan (despite my age of 47, DH of 20 years and 2 kids, and those other 2 brothers). Be gentle with yourself and take all the time you need to heal. I pray God will bring you comfort.
It has been one week since my last rad boost. My skin is doing very well. My RO was being honest when she said it would heal up pretty quickly once the treatments were done. The Silvadene cream was an absolute godsend, and helped the raw spots recover well. Other than that I used Miaderm - two tubes for about $40. She gave me an Rx for Xclair, but it was way too pricy for my blood, about $60, even with a $30 coupon. The Miaderm worked just fine. I'm still a little "tan" and some of that may stay, but my skin no longer hurts. I do have occasional little aches and pains, and I have noticed that my half-breast already seems smaller. Even with my prosthesis in, it looks smaller than my natural girl. If it gets too much smaller that may make the recon decision for me. We shall see.
We're being blessed with some good rainfall this weekend in SoCal, so it's a fireplace/book time for me. And sleeping in!!
