MRI with dye before mammo?

Options

I have always thought that you should have a mammo first and then the mri 2nd due to the contrast dye. Has anyone else been told this?

Apparently the computer kicked out my long scheduled appointments & the only way they can get me in for the tests is to do the mri with contrast dye first and then an hour later do the diagnostic mammo. I have very dense tissue, implants, scar tissue, and an assortment of lumps and bumps. I'm worried having the contrast dye first will make the mammo harder to read.  MRI supervisor claims no.  My tests are scheduled for tomorrow so the results would be available for lmy visit with breast surgeon on Monday.  I had always thought it was better to have the mammo first and then the mri.  Pardon my rant. I was anxious enough before I got the call about the mix up.

I recently had a mammo, u/s & MRI (at UCLA) in that order, and the radiologist expressed some disappointment that they hadn't scheduled my MRI first.  I think her rationale had to do with giving me results the same day, which she was able to do by having me come back later in the afternoon; but there was no concern about the dye affecting the mammo & u/s.    Deanna
