HOW DO YOU CELEBRATE CANCER ANNIVERSARIES?
This Saturday will mark my 3rd year out. I'm super excited. For the last 2 years my family, including my parents, siblings and their spouses and children, have gone out to dinner. We all celebrate together. This year we're doing brunch but I also wanted to do something a little more, but I'm not sure what. I just want to CELEBRATE life and I'd like to do something with or for my entire family. Any ideas? What have you done in the past to celebrate? Thanks.

Wow, congrats on 3 years! Your dx is similar to mine so you give me hope and inspiration!
How about a day trip or weekend over someplace not too far from where you live (?), maybe to a spa of some kind. It would be nice to be pampered, maybe even just you and your honey (have a special dinner with the kids before or after you come back so as not to exclude them). Do something special for yourself. You deserve it!
Take care,
Sharon

It's great to read that you are going strong 3 years out. Congratulations!
I've always spent my cancerverssaries quietly, just my husband and I going out to eat, going for a drive and feeling good just being together.
Hope your "celebration" is just right for you. Hugs and Hurray on 3 years! G.

Mom3: Congratulations on your three-year anniversary! Good for you.
I'm about 2.5 months past my BMX (DCIS Stage 0, no chemo, radiation and no Tamoxifen; clear margins) and I've been celebrating several ways. We took our annual Thanksgiving trip up to Northern California; this year, I added an extra night and also splurged to upgrade our room to include a fireplace and hot tub. Much, much fun.
I'll also be taking some friends and coworkers out to lunch to celebrate as well.

Congrats on the three years! That is fantastic.
I would do something life affirming too. I know you are a runner, so maybe go for a long run. Show cancer it couldn't stop you!

This might not work depending on what part of the country you live in but how about planting a tree? My husband and I did that last summer and I just felt it was a statement that I plan on seeing that tree grow up and be a place for shade and birds to roost.

Christy, that is a lovely idea. How nice.
