Hello!  Please share any thoughts you might have....I finished chemo in July 09, double m, then had radiation in December 09- January 10.  I take aromasin.  Have had full hysterectomy.  My hair grew back, but now that it is thin on top.  Not real noticable, but it is definitely thinner than it was before chemo / cancer.  Has anyone else had this experience?  Has anyone found a treatment or good products to help?  Thanks for any information you can share.

I was worried about my hair getting thinner on top since it was already thinner than it was when I was young and I read that having less estrogen would make that more likely.  So after I started arimidex I started using the generic Rogaine on my head.  I asked my onc before I did so and she was ok with it.  I do not feel my hair has gotten any thinner on top and in fact may be a little thicker than before.  Did have to adjust my blood pressure medication since the product lowered my blood pressure too much.  I plan to keep using it.   Hope this suggestion helps.

Thanks so much for responding!  I did just buy some women's rogaine....I didn't know if further steps were necessary.  I hate to complain about my hair--REALLY happy to have some again after chemo....but it is looking a little limp and thin...I will keep using the rogaine and see if it helps me.  Thanks.

Glad I could help by giving my opinion.  I know how you feel, I was so anxious for my hair to grow back in after chemo.  I finished in Aug. of 09.   So we are close to the same finishing date.  My hair still is not the same as before chemo.  It is not the curly curly it was just after chemo but is dry looking and sort of looks frizzy and very dull.  Not shiny and lose curls like I use to have.  My hair is very white, I even tried a reverse frost of some darker coler to see if it would help but it did not.  So I am back to just white and putting lots of product in it, a leave in conditioner or an oily finished I pat on when styled.  Never did get my eyebrows back to any degree which is my other complaint.  In fact it is probably the worse side effect from the chemo I have.  I had some tatooed on but they do not look natural at all.  Just hope having the chemo was worth it and I do not have a reoccurance or mets.   Good Luck

nextstepsfromhere:  I'm menopausal, and just ordered an herb called, "He Shou Wu".  Supposedly, this Asian herb helps thinning hair.  Got it today.

Kat43:  The above herb supposedly helps keep the white and grey hair away!  Obviously, I can't swear to this, but I'll let you and nextstepsfromhere know if it works.

If you are interested, Amazon.com sells it.

    Hello

Although I did not have chemo or radiation my hair is thin on top.  I have hypothyroidism and that can cause hair to thin.

After being on Aromasin my hair started to get thin and break off. It was so depressing after finally getting my hair back to normal. It was falling out at night and in the shower. I finally was to the point of tears and called my Oncologist's office. The NP told me to stop taking it and after a two week break started me on Femara. No problems and my hair is close to normal.
