Not Sure What This Is

Options

Hi Ladies,

I've been having a weird sensation, pressure, bloated feeling under my right rib cage area (same side as cancer) and am wondering if anyone has had this or something like it.  I've had other aches and pains but they seem to come and go.  This area does not.  It really doesn't hurt though, so I'm not sure what the heck it is. The same side is tender under the arm pit (where nodes were removed) but I dont' know if that's from me pressing and feeling it so often.  GRRRRRR,  I HATE this!

To top it off, there is a new job opening at work that I would really like to try for but am concerned about my long term health......................

Thanks ladies,

Sharon

Sharon, your right side holds a lot of important organs; liver, gallbladder, kidney, etc. Get it checked out for peace of mind and go for the new job!!!!!

    Sharon,

A slogan I have always used throughout my career is "Business as usual until it is not business as usual".  Go for that job because right now it is business as usual :-)

Sharon, have you had any truncal lymphadema?  I don't know about under the rib cage specifically, but I get it from my axilla down to my rib cage and across my left (mx) chest area.  It's a tight, pressure-like feeling caused by fluid build up, sometimes with tingling -- maybe what you're describing???

As far as the job goes, unless there's a reason you can't do it now (lack of energy, etc.), I certainly wouldn't let the "what if's" stand in your way.  We can't predict the future, and having a fulfilling job seems like it would be really important to your emotional well-being, which can greatly impact your physical health.  But definitely get the rib discomfort checked out to ease your mind!

    Thanks ladies,

Today was just crummy, I felt sore and out of it all day.  Just now feeling a little more "perky" and it's probably because I took a couple oxycodone.

I appreciate all your encouragement regarding the job.  I have a very "comfortable" position now with a Company I have worked for over 22 years.  I can make my own hours, come and go as I please as long as I get my work done.  This new position would be much more demanding and set hours that someone really NEEDS to be there (it's in Human Resources).  I'd hate to take on that commitment and then have some health issue pop up.  I know I'm projecting and should just let the Manager determine if she thinks it's worth the risk of training me, etc (she knows about my cancer treatment).  But if I'm not feeling better by Monday that could put a wrinkle in it.  She needs to fill the position by Wednesday.

Deanna, I'm checking out truncal lymphedema.  I don't have the classic symptoms, but who knows what it is at this point.  I sure hope nothing.  I may try to get in to see the doc Monday if tomorrow doesn't go better.

Thank you all again for your support and wisdom.  I'll keep you posted.

    Sharon
