Help in getting a Penguin Cold Cap

Pat,
Great to hear from you. Great to hear that all went well with your surgery
I am now at day 42 from the beginning of my chemo regimen. I have had 2 TC sessions and have 2 left. I am having the 3rd sessions tomorrow. I have used the Cold Caps and have not lost any hair. I have only had very minimal shedding. My husband has been at each session and is doing the caps with me. It is time consuming but definitely worth it. I am getting my chemo treatment at DF but I would say that you could just as easily accomplish it in Worcester. My feeling is that you should definitely do the cold caps if it is something that you feel strongly and deeply about because it definitely does work as evidenced by the many successful stories on the Cold Cap Forum. Do not let those that are uneducated about it discourage you from doing it.
DF does not have the freezers. We use 2 coolers with dry ice. It is not as difficult as you think to get everything organized and get the caps to the correct temp needed. It is also a diversion and keeps us busy and allows us to feel more in control of the chemo treatment and do something preventative. So far it has definitely been worth it as I have all of my hair and should continue over the next 2 treatments.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions at any time. You can also PM me and I can give you my phone # if you want to talk

Hello Lisa,
Congratulations on completing your chemo treatments, and for your success in using the Penguin Cold Caps! You must be ecstatic beyond words. I apologize for not getting back to you earlier, as the family decided to take a short half-week vacation to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday.
I am meeting with my oncologist next Tuesday to discuss my chemo plan. At this time, I am going to give him some printed literature about the Caps, and tell him that I would love to give the Caps a shot. Hopefully, his reaction will be favorable.
I would love to correspond with you either over the phone or through emails as I embark on this new phase of my treatment. Your guidance and words of wisdom would be much appreciated! I will PM you, and whatever works best for you would be fine for me. Let me know if there is any time that is more convenient for you.
Thanks again!

This is very informative and helpful in reading, for the first time in 2 months I stopped crying. Thank you for these posts! My NP at Dana Farber told me that they dont work and they are too expensive. I dont all in the medical profession have compassion to what people are going through and how "hair" is just as important to their well being and holding on to something left of them for a while. If it works, then I want to do it! Please let me know how to care for your hair during the treatments, such as shampoos, conditioners, blow drying?, coloring? Thanks so much, this is so helpful.

BTW.. so happy for all of you who went through the ordeal and fought for what you believed in and proved to them that it works! Much happiness and health to you all.

Read the cold cap thread...there is so much information on there that will help you. Feel free to PM me. I don't mind answering your questions. I posted photos of my before, during and after on my blog. I did also post photos a few times on the cold cap thread....the most recent one's about a week or two ago. Good luck! I am happy I did the caps. My hair is long...down to the middle of my back.
