breast cancer spread to ovary?
Has anyone heard of this happening? I'm 41 and still have two more years on tamoxifen, after having chemo, radiation and herceptin. I have three complex ovarian cysts (have had others before and they eventually resolved). This time one is solid and they are calling them masses and lesions rather than cysts. I always get them on the left ovary--right is always fine. My bc was left-sided.
I asked for a pelvic MRI to get as much info on them as possible. Last time I had complex cysts, I saw a gyn/onc who quickly recommended surgery, even though a last-minute ultrasound showed they were getting smaller. Those went away according to later ultrasounds, but now I'm back in the boat.
My ob/gyn says it's whatever I'm comfortable with--watch and wait or take out the ovary. Well, I'm 100 percent not comfortable with cancer in my body and I'm 100 percent not comfortable with taking something out that doesn't need to go. Right now I have no way of knowing which way things are. I'm hoping the MRI might give a clue before having to wait 8 weeks to reultrasound.
Anyone else ever deal with this and what did you do?
Thanks!

I have heard of it happening, although I think it's more common with ILC than IDC. I hope the MRI gives you some more definitive answers, and I'm so sorry you're going through this!

Breast and ovarian cancer are closely linked which led me to me having an ooph in '06 after my surgery.
Do you take tamoxifen? This can lead to ovarian cysts too, hoping it's nothing serious and the MRI will put your mind at ease:)

Yes, I've taken tamoxifen for three years, with two to go. I also think it's a combination of tamoxifen, chemo and my approaching-menopause age. Thanks for your replies.

Hi there, I wish I had answers too. Im also 41 had chemo and radiation. Been on tamoxefin for 5 months. Been having bloating for the last 6wks. Had a pelvic u/s and find out that I have endometrial thickening and a complex cst on the ovary. I will see the OB doctor tomorrow. I was feeling nervous about the whole thing, but reading others stories has helped. Lets keep in touch..

Breast cancer is one of the commonest maligancies afflicting women. Breast cancer also progresses through different stages like other type of cancer. Breast cancer are based on the size of the breast lump or tumor, whether the cancer is maligant and whether the cancer has spread beyond the breast tissue.
