enlarged nipple

I have dcis intermediate grade and have 8 more sessions left to go of whole breast radiation.  Has anyone out there ever had an enlarged nipple/aereola area. Mine is 3x the size of the other non radiated breast. Very sore. Also have numbness in left hand and wonder how I am going to tolerate the boost given the last 5 days. I am very red, today armpit is sore too.

I am using calendula cream and am very careful. Also using Interdry (a piece of material treated with silver) to absorb moisture under breast (something new) of large women.

Any ideas on how to survive the last 8 days?

Hi Ktdid,

I have the same problem with the nipple area. The doctor gave me  xeroform which is a petrolatum dressing over wrap(  they use it for burns) I  cut a piece , place it over the nipple then a piece of gauze so it would not stain my clothes. It gave quite a bit of relief. Also  the nurses  squeezed an aloe plant into a jar  added lavender  and then reduced a lot of the swelling. Hope this helps.

My radiated side nipple sounds like yours. Done with radiation and no longer hurts but it is larger. Drs watching it. No discharge. Seeing regular Oncologist soon and will see what she says. No retraction or discharge. I just want it to look like it did before.
