There was a lot of press about TykerB in the paper and TV media last month. The statement from the government at this point is that the issue of coverage of TykerB by the Alberta government has been tabled into the new year. What does this mean, I don't know. If you have any interest in please consider talking to your MLA about this or even the news media about your concerns People in Ontario should be actively fighting for TykerB. If Ontario approves it Alberta likely will and visa versa....Help if you can

I signed the petition and called my MLS's office. The lady in the press has the same oncologist as I do. She was on the news a couple of weeks ago. I am seeing her on the 21st and will inquire what else can be done to get this approved. It is availbale in some provinces but not here in Alberta yet.
Please contact your MLA

Thanks Pickle141.............
I am not sure what else can be done for now. I am amazed at the lack of response by our MLA's from all parties. Continue to call them.

Today the health minister for Alberta has stated that a decision on TykerB funding will be announced before Christmas. He did allude he is in favour of it passing but he stated he would wait to see what the board recommmends. PHONE YOUR MLA now!

Tykerb is not convered in Manitoba either. As far as I heard, only Saskachuan and Nova Scotia governments listed this drug under their coverage. We should launch a national call to have this drug covered by all provinces.

The fight for TykerB started a while back. But in the last few months it made the news( almost all of them) outlets. As I have mentioned Alberta decision on TykerB is linked to Ont decision. Hopefully, this will end. Grace I sympathize with you totally. Because my family is going through this. It is going to be passed in BC shortly. Nationally it has been accepted by Health Canada it is at the povincial level. My suggestion to you is to try writing to the paper making them aware of the TykerB issue. I hope it is passed in Alberta, but I fear there is no political motivation to accept Tykerb in to the health plan. I really hope I am wrong and if Alberta passes Manitoba my follow suit

We need it to be approved in Ontario too!!!
-
Thank you, Fancer,
I will talk to our patient rep and see what we can do. It is worse in Manitoba, since we don't have many trials available for us to get the drug for free.
Grace

As of Today......TYKERB is now covered by Alberta Health Care.............
.....lives will be saved.....
-
So happy to see this pass. I don't need this drug at the moment but so many others will be helped!
-
That is awesome! It was just passed here in Nova Scotia in early December. Now I think there are 3 provinces that have approved it. Nova Scotia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. It's getting there - slowly but surely....

There was a mention in the local papers that the Ab Govermnet plans to setup some kind of board to ensure the Alberta remains in the fore front of new Cancer treatments...hopefully this is not an election carrot
