Sports Bra Advice
Anybody find a good sports bra for use during radiation - exercise? I am trying to maintain some of my usual cardio, but bounce makes the skin sensitivity a bit of a "pain." I am not big, but always wore underwire type construction under my shelf bra workout gear. My wireless, high impact sports bras actually cut into the same spots as an underwire would. I just read some of the Tamox. weight gain discussion and am a bit flipped out. I am 51 and lost 20 some pounds over the last year through workouts and careful eating. I feel like I am going to have to up the regime, but the last thing I need is to already have packed on extra pounds before Tam because of radiation ouchiness (not thinking about fatigue yet.) Ideas? Recommendations? 36B-scars around areola and top center to edge. Brand names are helpful... Or do you just risk the heavy duty bra and take it off asap and switch to camisole or such after exercise?

Hey Clare2, I always wore 2 - 3 sports bras to keep the girls tight and I am not very big either. They below sports bra was recommended to me by a friend. I absolutely love it and there is zero bounce.... no more wearing several sports bras!! Best part about ordering it and trying it is there is no risk to you because if you don't like it you can return it without cost to you! There is only one drawback to this bra; it's difficult to hook the back after you have it on. Thus, I hook it before I put it on; although a little challenging, the bra makes the effort worth while.
Go to www.athleta.com in the upper right hand side under search put in " shock absorber".
Hope this helps!!

Another useful tip is to have a cotton vest UNDER the supportive layer(s) while you exercise, it prevents rubbing the delicate skin and absorbs moisture. Good luck!

I like the Jockey sports bra. I forget which model, but the one with the T-back has pockets with openings large enough to handle my foobs.

I looooooove the Lululemon "the bust stops here" model. Available up to DD, which I needed. Has no wires. Has inner structure that is NON stretchable so it really immobilizes bounce more than any sportsbra I ever used. Their "ta-ta tamer" didn't tame mine, but this newest model is magnificent. It is wonderfully wicking so it feels great when you're sweaty. Comfy and reconfigurable straps.
I wore it home from lumpectomy and it curtailed the painful jiggle, and when I resumed running. When I had the mastectomy, I used it with the beanie foob inserted. There is no need for a pocket; the foob just stays because the bra is in skin contact all around. LOVE it. I think I will miss the bra more than my second breast when I get the prophylatic mast.

Goldlining: I just found out I am getting a gift card from Lululemon. I ran a half marathon in September and they promised shorts to all participants but couldn't deliver so we get $60 gift cards instead! I am a week out from exchange so my focus is BRAS, I like the encapsulation look of the TaTa Tamer but wonder about seams on the inside? Looks like they are clearing out the bust stops here model?

Hi Warrior67 -- in my local Lulus, the TaTa Tamers are the ones on clearance (some colours, not all). Just bought a Bust Stops Here for my 15 yo daughter, and was tempted by the $19 clearance price of the TaTa Tamer, and I do like the look, but I asked her to jump up and down and sure enough, the TaTas were not Tamed. The Bust Stops Here is the newer one (other than the hot yoga and the low-support ones). I got a purple Bust Stops Here from the first batch, I think it was in the Fall 2010 when it first came out (and a Wish Blue later). Love both colours and I don't really mind the seaming. It's in the right place to create a good structure, while the inside is so silky unseamed save the awesome bounce-killing unstretchy framing. If you can get one of them on clearance (maybe an expired colour) that's a great deal. (That gift card is a fantastic consolation prize for your half mary!)
