what comes next

I saw the BS yesterday. He took the stitches out, but the breast is still not healing. The BS has left the breast open now hoping it will heal from the inside out. He told me the reason it isn't healing is either from radiation burns, or from the suchers themselves.He is going to give it 4 weeks to heal. I asked him what happens if it doesn't heal after the 4 weeks. His comment was you don't want to know. Does anyone have any idea what the next step would be? I'm beginning to get really worried about this entire thing.

SherriG, I have a question did you have radiation posion causing the insision not to heal? The hole thing has me really scared.

I did get an infection after rads, and packed and drained, and took antibiotics, and put antibiotics around my wound before packing for months. But everytime I stopped antibiotics, I got another infection.

But after 3 months the stinkin' hole healed, and I  now just have a nicely healed divot.

Get rest, drink plenty of fluids, and try not to stress.

Thanks Sue, good to know it will heal. Doesn't sound fun, but we do what we have to do. I am also using the antibiotic cream around it daily as well as all the antibiotics I've been on.
