Plastic Surgeons in Toronto
Hi ladies!
I have recently been diagnosed with BC. The core biopsy states DCIS, intermediate grade. I really don't know the extent of the DCIS or whether there is an invasive component. However, I want to be prepared for immediate reconstruction if a masectomy is required.
Next week, I have an initial appointment with a breast surgeon at PMH. Does anyone know how the process works? Will the BS refer me to a PS? Can anyone recommend a PS that works with PMH?
I appreciate any comments or advice.

kitty - I'm bumping you up to the top of this forum, hoping someone will come along and tell you about their experiences. Several ladies on this Board have had reconstruction at PMH.
Good luck! Linda

Formykids - i just came across your post - i am wondering who your plastic surgeon is and what your experience has been like? i just posted a new topic , will copy it below, and would love to hear from anyone on thsi thread about their experiecnes, even by PM. I probably should not be posting the name of my surgeon so publicly but am just getting desperate for help. might need to find a new PS in the Toronto area for treating post-op pain
thanks for reading.
If you have had breast reconstruction with Dr. Hofer can you let me know how your experience was? I spent the last year having breast recon surgery with him, with the exchange surgery in Nov 2010 and am looking for feedback from other women who had Dr H as their surgeon.I am having a lot of complications with my implants, and have a LOT of pain. I had chest radiation for Hodgkin's 15 years ago, and so I am aware that radiated tissue and implants don't get along but i was not a candidate for DIEP. However, i was not informed that there could be so many complications and SO much pain. And I am finding he isn't very helpful with post-op recovery problems. I am hoping to see him again soon, for another follow up and to get some treatment suggestions for the pain = perhaps physio, massage, or pain meds which treat nerve ending pain (?). If you have had surgery with Dr Hofer, could you let me know if you thought he was attentive and if your surgery was successful? I am looking for info from women who had problems with implants after radiation, but would be happy to hear from anyone who saw Dr. Hofer.Thank you!
