MRI & tissue expanders

My Mom has suspected metastis to her spine and "brain activity" that was to be further investigated by MRI but she has tissue expanders and apparently cannot have the MRI. How will they further investigate the lesions they saw on the CT?
I swear this is just one thing after another. I want to scream.
