naturopath, holistic dr's, integrative dr's, and insurance...

Options

so, here i go again with more questions.  Embarassed

if you use a naturopath, holistic dr., or integrative dr., etc., does your insurance pay for it or do you pay out of pocket?  if you pay out of pocket how much do these dr's charge???  i haven't researched if the dr's in my area are covered by my ins or not.  i am curious as to how much money these kinds of dr's cost.  i'm seriously thinking maybe a visit to one might be a good idea, if for nothing else than to answer some of the questions that i have.

thanks in advance!!

I go to a Holistic and Wellness Center. The person I see is a Nurse Practitioner. She is on my list of PPOs with my insurance company so my appointments are covered (so to speak...I have a $10,000 deductible!)  Some things may not be covered but just about everything I've encountered so far is...except of course my vitamins and things that dont require a prescription. Those things do get expensive.  But I would rather be spending my $$ on that instead of drugs.

I don't know if this will help you...although I have insurance it won't pay for naturalpaths. I spoke with the center for natural medicine about a payment plan. Rather than finding expensive insurance that may or may not cover natualpathic doctors...I'm sending $25 a month to the center for naturalpahtic medicine. Then when I need to see my naturalpahtic doc, the money is there to cover it. My naturalpath orders all dx tests through the primary care doctor...including blood test. The primary doctor then fax's the naturalpath with the results. So...it only cost me $25 a month...which sometimes covers supplements :)

My insurance doesn't pay, but if you want to try using a Flex-spending account with your employer, you can use it to purchase supplements if your dr. will fill out a form stating that they are medically neccesary.
