How many of us have had the Serum Her 2 test??

I just learned of this today and am still a little unsure of what EXACTLY it is. From the video that I watched, it seems like a great tool to see if the disease is progressing or responding to treatment?? I was diagnosed the 2nd time in feb. of this year with mets. To my knowledge I've NEVER had this blood test and am now wondering why?? I will ask my Onc. next week at my visit. How many of you have had this blood test and are getting it regularly??

I think that my doctor was ahead of the game with the Her/2 serum testing.  In April of this year I had it tested and the level was 2x as high as what is considered normal.  All other tests were normal as far as liver enzymes, blood work and tumor marker go.  I had no symptoms but the doctor ordered a pet/ct scan which also was normal.  He wanted the serum test repeated in three months and the level was the same, still way too high.  It was repeated 2 weeks ago and next Wednesday I'll find out the results.  I also had a mamogram which was normal.  Will find out about the chest xray at the next visit.  I am at the 6 year mark with no problems except the elevated serum level.  Doctor thinks that this might just be what is normal for me.  We'll see but so far, so good.
